Evil lurks around every corner: Like computers, our Android phones can also be infected with malware. And this is of particular importance, with all the sensitive data that we keep there. Especially if, like me, you are dedicated to discovering new applications from the most diverse places.
APK files are a major source of virus entry and even if we download from the Play Store, we are not always covered. Fortunately, there is a very simple way to analyze the files we download from the Internet: a simple Telegram bot. This is how I do it for avoid infecting my mobile with viruses
An antivirus without downloading anything
A virus can infect our mobile phone and although it is common for it to present certain symptoms that betray it, this is not always the case. Depending on the type of malwarethey can even take control of some aspects and that is something I can’t conceive of in any way, which is why it is worth reviewing three critical permissions.
But I still take some risks. install apps in APK format that I download from the Internet. Accidents of the trade, I suppose, although I got rid of the fear thanks to a tool, and now I don’t mind doing it: before installing it, I run the file through an antivirus to make sure it’s clean.
I’m not talking about an antivirus that you have to download and install, or even pay for: we have commented on other occasions on the advantages of VirusTotal, a Google website that acts as a scanner malware. Luckily for me, there are also bots on Telegram that replicate its operation.
One of them is @VirusTotal_AV_bot, a community bot that uses the features of this powerful antivirus. This saves me from having to install other similar solutions: with a few taps on the screen, I share the applications I download in APK and in a few seconds I get a full report
In addition to reporting a possible infection, it allows me to know when it was first scanned (even by other users). For the rest, it has a simplicity that allows me to easily scan all APK applications without wasting much time.
To use it, go to the previous link, start the bot, select a language and it will be ready to analyze everything we share. It is also simple and free, which is no small feat. Now, before installing a suspicious APK file, I do not hesitate: This robot calms my fears.
