In Applesfera and speaking of washing machines? That’s how it is. But a washing machine is no longer this “stupid” device that went around in circles. Let’s see, it’s still circulating, but today it goes much further. In fact, and I’m not kidding, Steve Jobs took a long time to choose his washing machine. But here we arediscover a way to take better care of our washing machine. And depending on how many of you are at home, it will be more or less useful. But there is something that is essential to good maintenance: washing the drum.
I never thought I would end up running the washing machine from iPhone
This is where our beloved iPhone comes in. It turns out that I recently had to retire to my old washing machine. And since I have a good part of the house automated with light bulbs, sockets, air purifiers… I jumped into the home automation pool. At first I asked myself, “Why do I need a washing machine app?” But once you start using it, there’s no going back.
The first thing that left me speechless was being able to receive notifications on my iPhone when the wash is finished. I work from home and having to get up to see how much is left often takes me away from what I was doing. Not to mention that when you turn on the washing machine, you go and do things outside and you forget. No more times when your clothes are soaked Inside and when you open it it smells like wet dog. Because you even have the option to pause the wash.
The importance of drum washing, a program that many manufacturers hide in their application
Drum washing is one of those crucial functions that are often overlooked in daily life. Many manufacturers include this program in their applications or with a button combination on the washing machine itself. Keeping the drum clean is essential to prevent certain parts from getting clogged and, above all, for the clothes to come out fresh and odor-free.
Over time, detergent residue, lint, and pet hair can build up in the drum, creating the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive and therefore bad odors. This is where this special program comes in that many people don’t know about.
By using it regularly, you not only extend the life of your appliance by also removing limescale, but you also ensure that your clothes are washed in a clean environment. So if you own a smart washing machine with an app, take a look at all the options. I discovered this program and a special program for sheets and towels.
Technicians always say it’s good to wash above 60°C from time to time, but many normal 60° wash programs don’t retain water long enough. SO, it is important to use the special drum washing program if your washing machine is equipped with one. If you don’t have an app on the washing machine, you can probably do this by combining the buttons or using a dedicated program on the wheel. They are generally called Hygiene, Clean Max, etc.
But yes, if at any time you need to change your washing machine, I recommend you invest a little more and buy Wi-Fi. I particularly highlight the Wi-Fi, as many are Bluetooth and therefore will only work if you are inside the house. With a Wi-Fi connection, you can turn it off if you’re on the street, for example.
If you had told me a few years ago that I was going to write in Applesfera about how I take care of my washing machine with the iPhone, I would not have believed it. But here we are, in 2024, with smart washing machines that make our lives a little easier.
