Apple removed this feature that I loved on old iPhones and it doesn’t look like it’ll ever come back
The iPhone is a device launched in 2007 and which suffered a great development, particularly in terms of its software, but also in its size. And throughout these years, Apple has added and removed features from the iPhone, which is normal, but There’s a feature I’m missing that Apple removed for no apparent reason of their biggest iPhones.
iOS must have evolved a lot over the years, adapt to the size of larger screens and the absence of buttons. For many years, iPhones had 3.5-inch screens, until the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus came along. And it is precisely with the latter that the function I am talking about was introduced.
This function was present in all iPhone Plus that Apple even launched the iPhone 8 Plus. However, When Apple launched the iPhone Max, this feature was not available. Even when the company reclaimed that family name with the iPhone 14 Plus, this feature didn’t return.
I miss this feature on the iPhone Plus home screen
If you’re an iPhone veteran, you probably already know what feature I’m talking about. It’s something very interesting that allowed users to rotate the iPhone Plus home screen to appear horizontal. Something we stopped offering without Apple giving any explanation.
This function allowed When you rotate the screen with our apps it can be viewed horizontally, something very internal if we use the iPhone in this sense. This is especially noticeable when we play with the iPhone, as many games work in this position.
When we exit a game to the Home screen on a current iPhone, like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, home screen does not appear rotated, like on the old iPhone Plus, and the applications are not in the direction in which we hold the iPhone, and this is something that creaks quite a bit in the iOS interface. At least for me. I think everything seemed more coherent before.
But also, Using iPhone in landscape mode may be something many users do, especially those with a large screen, just like an iPad. In fact, this is why Apple allowed screen rotation on the iPhone Plus. Something we feel like we’ve lost forever.
Perhaps this feature was created so that iPhone Plus users would have a more recognizable view of the Home screen, more similar to that of an iPad. This would make changing to this screen size much easier. However, with iPhone Max users were already quite used to it and that’s why this function was removed. It is also possible that It wasn’t something many users used. However, when turning on an iPhone Plus, I remembered this feature and it brought back good memories. The evolution of iOS has taken away this function, even if we have gained others as great as Sleep.
