Android mobiles have several weapons to protect themselves from unwanted calls. Use them wisely and Your phone will only ring when someone you really care about calls youlike Amazon’s delivery man.
Do not call each other with a hidden number
These days almost everyone knows how to block phone numbers and it is also very fashionable to search for the number calling you before answering, so it is no surprise that many unwanted calls come in with the hidden number.
The truth is, it’s rare for a call you’re interested in to come in with a hidden number, unless your brother-in-law knows the code to do so, so block calls from unknown numbers
In the Google phone application -and others with a similar operation- you will find the possibility of block calls with hidden number in your settings. This setting is used for calls and SMS with a hidden number. Here are the steps:
- Open the Phone app and enter its settings
- to land blocked numbers
- Check the box next to unknown
Google, stop spam
Google Phone app has one of the best and easiest spam filters, and all you have to do is activate it. If your mobile is delivered with another application of Phoneyou may be able to download and install the Google app from Google Play.
If you go to settings Caller ID and Spamyou will find three options related to protection against unwanted calls, including the caller ID, unwanted calls and verified calls.
- Caller ID: If you activate it, you will see on the screen that appears when they call you who is calling you, even if you do not have the number in the directory. Google obtains this information by matching the number with, for example, company numbers on Google Maps. In some cases, you will even be warned that it is “possible spam”.
- Filter unwanted calls: The best way to get rid of unwanted calls on your mobile is to activate this option. By doing so, calls from numbers that Google recognizes as spam will be automatically blocked.
- Calls verified: This option allows companies to identify themselves and add a reason for the call, which you will also see before you answer. For example, your hair salon may indicate that the reason for the call is “to reschedule”.
It’s up to you whether you want to enable all three options or just some. If you want the spam filter to work more or less automatically, it is highly recommended to activate Filter unwanted calls. The other two options allow you to have an idea of who is calling before you pick up and you decide whether or not to answer the call. Here are the steps:
- Open the Google Phone app and enter settings
- Come into Caller ID and Spam
- Brand Filter unwanted calls
Block afterwards
Google’s spam filter is good, but not foolproof. Sometimes you won’t know it’s spam until you respond to it and someone tries to sell you something. So the best you can do is mark the call as spam
Marking a call as spam is very simple. All you have to do is open the phone app and tap on the tab recent. There you will see the latest calls and after touching any of them you have the option to mark it as spam.
Call in reinforcements (if needed)
It’s quite common for Android phones to come with the Google Phone app or allow us to install it from Google Play, but if for some reason this option isn’t available to you, you will always have options.
Some customization layers, such as Huawei’s EMUI, allow us to block numbers slightly differently (sometimes from the mobile settings), but if it is not available on your mobile either, you can always opt for applications specialized in call blocking.
One of the most experienced applications for blocking unwanted calls is TrueCaller, so popular that its services are integrated into some mobiles. The app has years of experience in caller ID and a gigantic base of users and phone numbers, so any unwanted call attempts are likely to be correctly identified.
