Don’t be fooled by ChatGPT’s success and Bard’s missteps. Google continues to be the gold standard when it comes to Artificial Intelligence, although it has so far preferred to be cautious about implementing this technology in its products.

Microsoft can force Google’s hand, and probably at the next Google I/O in 2023, many AI features will be showcased in the company’s apps and services. It is then that we will see the fruits of so many years of work and advances in AI, which until now had remained in studies and prototypes.
Images created by AI on Android
One of these AI-based novelties seems to have been discovered by 9to5Google: the integration of an AI directly into the Google GBoard keyboard. The latest beta version of this application already contains references to “Image Keyboard”, a new option available among the keyboard shortcuts, such as those that allow us to search for emojis or translate what we have written.
“Image” refers to the image generator introduced in May last year as one of several AI-powered projects from Google. The image is characterized by the union of two independent parts: the text analysis and the generation of images focused on “photorealism”.
Image is able to generate images from a simple sentence, starting with un derstanding the words we have written to create a tiny image initially, but also enlarged through machine learning algorithms. Google researchers have found that generic language models, trained only on text, are surprisingly good at encoding the text needed for image synthesis.
