A Consumer Reports study assessed how Instagram and Facebook collect information through the companies, uncovering an underlying problem
It’s not a mystery and it’s not something new, Instagram and Facebook, among other social networks and websites, collect user data through interaction and are intended for thousands of businesses. It was recently made known what data they collect and how it is sent, There is an underlying legal issue that is not good at all.

Consumer Reports conducted a study with the support of 700 volunteers in which they sought to determine the sources of all personal data used by Meta in which they publish personalized advertisements daily.
Each participant downloaded a data file from the last 3 years from their Facebook settings and provided it to the company behind the study. From there, we concluded that a total of 186,892 companies sent user data to Facebook of which 2,230 people submitted each study participant’s data to Facebook.
Data brokers are the most common source collected by Meta. Other companies like Amazon are among the top 10 companies that collect the most data.. Credit reporting companies and retailers like Home Depot and Walmart are also among these data guzzlers.

Meta is committed to being transparent about data use and providing choices to users. What is wrong with this is the “cover-up” of child sexual abuse materials by the authorities due to their procedures.. According to the Guardian, Artificial intelligence helps detect and report suspicious materials and send them to authorities. What is bad and what is very serious is that US authorities only get involved if they report AI-generated child sexual abuse through the issuance of a search warrant.
The last It is necessary to request a court order from a judge and it can take days or weeks to be issued.. No one can open these abuse reports without the search warrant. Meta indicated that only AI can control these unfortunate events because of the large volume of material checked daily, it would be impossible to do it manually. Some reports are left aside and abuse continues, leading to the loss of early evidence.
