IOS 14.8.1 now available for users who have not updated to iOS 15

iOS, Updated, users

A day after the release of iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1, the guys in Cupertino released a new update to iOS 14, specifically version 14.8.1, a version intended for all users who do not plan to update to iOS 15. This new update to iOS 14 comes a month and a half after the release of iOS 14.8.

With the launch of macOS Monterey, Apple has taken the same step, by releasing macOS 11.6.1 on the same day it released the final version of macOS 12 Monterrey for all users who do not plan to update to this new version of macOS, even if the computers are compatible.

iOS 14.8.1 never reached the beta phase, and as can be read in the details of the update, includes important security updates and all iOS 14 users are welcome to update ASAP.

iOS 14.8.1 fixes bugs related to el audio, ColorSync, Continuity Camera, CoreGraphics, GPU Drivers, IOMobileFrameBuffer, Kernel, Sidecar, Status Bar, Voice Command and WebKit.

If you are still using iOS 14, in any of its versions, to update to this new update you need to do the usual process, go to Settings – General – Software update.

It is not mandatory to update to iOS 15

Apple announced earlier this year that it plans to offer users the ability to upgrade to iOS 15 or stay on iOS 14 and continue to receive important security updates, but without any new features.

iOS now offers a choice of two software update versions in the Settings app. You can update to the latest version of iOS 15 as soon as it is released for the latest features and the most comprehensive set of security updates.

Or stay on iOS 14 and keep receiving important security updates until you’re ready to upgrade to the next major version.

Have you updated to iOS 15? Or are you planning to stay on iOS 14?
