iOS 18.1 lets us remove unwanted objects from our photos

iOS 18 removes objects from photo

One of the new features in iOS 18 within Apple Intelligence is the ability to remove objects or people from photographs in the Photos app on our deviceand we have already tested it in the latest iOS 18.1 beta, which works very well.

Apple’s artificial intelligence will not only reach Siri, practically all the applications on our devices will have new features thanks to Apple Intelligence, and photos will be one of those that will benefit the most from the enormous possibilities it offers. One of these new functions will be the ability to eliminate “unwanted” objects from our photos. We have all taken a photo with someone in the background, ruining what would be a perfect postcard if that intruder did not appear. Or maybe a trash can or trash can is the object that spoils a perfect snapshot to upload to Instagram or hang on the living room wall. There are already many applications that allow us to remove these objects from our photographs without needing to be a Photoshop expert, but now from the Photos app, without the need for third-party applications

we can do it very easily, even if you don’t have any idea about photo editing.

When you see a photographer on your iPhone, in the Photos app, when you click on the button to edit it, next to the classic tools to set filters, automatically retouch or crop the photo, a new tool will appear with the icon of an eraser that Apple has called “Clean Up” in English, we assume that in Spanish it would be “Limpiar” or something similar. By clicking on this button we can choose which unwanted object we want to eliminate. The system will automatically detect objects that we might want to delete

usually what appears in the foreground is what we want and the rest is not, but if the selection that the system has made is not the one we want to eliminate, we can choose it manually, either by circling it with our finger (as I said we did in this case with the boat that appears in the photo) or “painting” the area that we want to eliminate. Artificial Intelligence will take care of eliminating it and retouching everything that has been deleted so that the photo is perfect. As you can see, the result in my case (quite simple) is perfect.
