What's the next step for the iPad Pro? More than 12 months have passed since the launch of the new iPad Pro in October 2018, with full screen design, facial ID and USB-C, and we look forward to seeing the next generation.
If you anticipated that you didn't have to wait too long to get the new Apple Pro, you'll be disappointed: a highly respected analyst and credible report suggests that the new tablet won't be launched until spring 2020. (We discuss these lines below).
What can we expect from the new iPad Pro model when it goes on sale? In this article we think about the release date, specifications and new features, including a new 3D camera, a micro USB screen and a refurbished processor. We also discuss how much the pre-tech iPads cost and whether the iPad Pro will get 5G connectivity.
If you're interested in more affordable alternatives, read about the 10.2-inch iPad introduced in September 2019, and the new rumors of the iPad Air 2020. And for tips on current range, read our iPad Shopping Guide and a summary of the best iPad offers.
Release Date: When will the new Pro be announced?
In 2019 Apple introduced the new iPad mini, updated the iPad Air and introduced the new iPad 10.2. You may be thinking that the new iPad Pro will be coming soon.
Looks like you'll have to wait a while. TF International Security Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, a respected Apple analyst, published a research article in mid-November 2019 stating that we will see the new iPhone SE 2 and IP Pro "in the first half of 2020", through MacRumors .
You are not the only one expecting a new iPad this spring. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman wrote in November 2019 that Apple intends to introduce the new iPad Pro models with 3D adoption in the first half of 2020.
The report contradicts a previous Bloomberg report (August 22, 2019) whose sources indicated that the new iPad Pro would be released before the end of 2019. A Bloomberg report said: "Coming soon in 2019: updated IP Pro updates with improved cameras and faster chips."
The report also revealed the 10.2-inch iPad, which was launched in September 2019, so it can be considered that the prediction that the iPad Pro will arrive and the 10.2-inch Pad was incorrect.
Keo also published forecasts in mid-October 2019 indicating that the iPad Pro will arrive in the first quarter of 2020.
Price for IPad Pro 2019
How much does the next Pro cost? In recent years there has been a significant increase in price, but there are reasons for this, almost all of them related to the redesign of the models.
However, in this case we expect that prices will stay close to the previous generation and no big jump will make the iPad Pro a more expensive product than its predecessor.
You can check everything Prices for iPad Pro 2018 by clicking on this link.
We can expect the same prices for the next batch, although (as we will see later) the storage capacity of 64 GB may disappear. If so, we expect the new installation level (maybe 128 GB) to be the same as the 64 GB price.
Changes in the design of the iPad Pro 2019
After re-signing its 2018 line of Pro, we do not expect a radical change for this 2020 season. Apple tends to mold in a unique way, and after lowering the bezels and pressing the & # 39; Home & # 39; s button, it might keep things almost the same for at least a few generations.
However, Apple may try to make the Pro a little smaller by moving some of the display technology back and forth to the edge, but we find this unpleasant for two reasons.
The first reason is because it probably means that the bezels will have to be bigger then the second because the iPad Pro is already surprisingly thin.
On the contrary, we can't see Apple squeezing the bezels more than they already did (in an attempt to more closely mimic the appearance of almost the entire screen found on the iPhone X and XS) because users are iPad more often attached than iPhone "physical" grip users.
Apple can add technology to reject the palms as much as possible; People will continue to be reluctant to leave the hands of computers and fingerprints on their screens.
Details and tools
Needless to say, the next generation of iPad Pro will be well thought out, and there are already many rumors about new features to come up, including a new Flight Time (ToF) system that will be able to draw 3D space representation in front of you. Pro.
We’ll go into more detail on these and some of the new features below, but first, as a point of comparison, we will go over the 2018 Pro Pro spec:
- A12X bionic processor, neural motor, M12 Coprocessor
- 64GB / 256GB / 512GB / 1TB storage
- 12.9in (2732×2048 to 264ppi) LED Display & # 39; Liquid Retinal & # 39 ;, True Tone, ProMotion
- 12Mp Camera to look back, f / 1.8, flash, 4K video, slow at 240fps
- 7Mp front camera, 1080p video, & # 39; Flash work & # 39 ;, Portrait mode, Animoji
- The sound of four speakers
- Face recognition for face ID
- Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0
- and Sim / eSIM
- USB-C connector, without headphone port

New iPad Pro cameras
The iPad Pro cameras didn't get much love in the final iterations, though they probably focus more here on the iPhones (because they have the right image size).
We expected Apple to bring back the mysterious OIS feature from a rear-facing camera in 2018 and could eventually have an increase in megapixels.
A Bloomberg report we mentioned earlier says that the new iPad Pro will have all the new camera technology on new iPhones. So we can expect features such as:
- A new camera system with third-party photo sensors and videos
- All three sensors will capture three images at once and use creative ingenuity to create a unified image.
- The photos will be of traditional cameras
- There will be improvements to the lower limbs
- Enhanced video recording with users able to capture, manipulate effects, change colors, rename and crop video
- Explaining an unnamed Chinese supplier, Japanese site Macotakara predicted in early August of 2019 that both of these iPad Pro sizes would feature a rear camera similar to the lens featured on the iPhone 11.
However, there could be an even bigger change to the iPad Pro's rear cameras. A report by Elec (a South Korean subject) releases a "industrial source" stating that the IP Pro 2020 will arrive on March I-2020 and if it does it will have 3D detection cameras in the background.
This technology is also known for flight time technology that measures the time it takes for a laser to hit an object to create a 3D map. This technology can also be seen on the iPhone 2020.
Processor
We can expect the A13X processor with a moderate incre ase in chip speed compared to the current one.
The previous model received a double crash from the A10X because two generations of the iPhone had appeared since the last update, but that should not work in this case because we don't expect the A14 chips until the fall of 2020.
Storage
Apple could stop offering 64 GB as standard storage memory, in this case, standard memory would be 128 GB.
The cameras have not received many changes in the latest updates, but it is also possible that in this case they are less responsive than the iPhone.
We hope that Apple will restore the OIS function lost in a strange way with the camera in 2018 and get an increase in megapixels.
Screen
What will Apple do with the iPad Pro screen? For the past three generations, the largest model has remained the same size (12.9 inches), while the bottom model has been fairly solid (9.7 inches, 10.5 inches, 11 inches). Does this mean that the 11.8-inch Pro Pro is on its way?
We do not believe this has happened because this way the smaller model will get closer to the larger model. What is the point of paying extra for a larger screen if the difference in size is too small?
If we add to this our belief that Apple will not offer any major design changes at this time, we believe that the 12,9-11 rental will be completely duplicated.
What about OLED? It's hard to know how much display technology will advance over the next 18 months, so we may have to eat our words, but right now that update (looks like a double thought) seems to be missing. OLED panels tend to be more expensive, and one of the 12.9s in the other can be the cause of fracking.
In addition to this, it is currently difficult to render at 120Hz on an OLED display. This is why the 120 Hz Razer Phone 2 has an LCD screen.
You wish for a list of new features on the iPad Pro 2020
The pills The 2018 iPad Pro is amazing, full-power devices and great features. But they are not perfect. Below we suggest some of the features and developments we would like to see in 2019 or 2020.
5G
We'll look at it again next time. The final impression of the Kuo report for April 2019 we mentioned twice in this article is that Apple is currently upgrading the iPad Pro with 5G capability, but will not publish it until after the long-awaited iPhone 5G. 2021 is a rumored release date for 5G iPad Pro.
Wondering what 5G is and how it will affect you? We are in the early days of shipping – as for the United Kingdom, EE launched its 5G network in May 2019, Vodafone followed it in July – and coverage remains uneven. But if you can also get 5G locally, you will see faster cellular connectivity speed.
In lab tests before launch, it reached 4.5 Gb / s or higher, but in the real world you can expect speeds between 10 and 20 times faster than what is now 4G. The EE Advisor's real-world EE test found that speeds "will reach consistent between 150-400Mbps."
Agreeing with wide pencils
It's annoying that Pro 2018 users are forced to upgrade to a new (and much better) pencil, because their devices don't have any light ports and therefore can't load the first-generation model. It's also a shame that the 2015, 2016 and 2017 iPad Pros owners are unable to update, as none of them work with the Apple Pencil 2.
Find out which iPads Apple Apple uses are annoying, to be honest. We would like Apple to find a way for the next technician to work with both pencils.
Full screen editing
The bold rebuild of the 2018 Pro is a bold move, removing the & # 39; Home & # 39; and greatly reduced the bezels with the design of almost the entire screen.
Betting on a full-screen will present some design difficulties, and Apple may have included a camera notch with front-facing sensors. It's possible to live with that, even though removing the bezels from a physical device and the easiest to hold on to would be to separate the views.
Remove the camera heap on the back
We are surprised that many iPhones and iPads now have rear-facing cameras obviously, so it is compulsory to use the case or refuses to place the device in a difficult position. But this strategy has been pursued so long (the iPhone 6 was criticized for its impact) that we began to suspect that Apple didn't want to change it, or didn't know how to do it without having to commit elsewhere.
In any case, it seems a shame that it hides the beauty of IP Pro in a sophisticated cover, especially if the rear camera is a low-end installation. Perhaps the removal of spots can be achieved by clicking on a less powerful lens … or with a larger body.
Headphone plug
We missed the headphone jack, and the iPad Pros 2018 doesn't even have a Lightning headphone port. Please return it to us?
Software and applications
Instead of iOS, i pills Apple now has its own dedicated app, called iPadOS.
IPadOS is based on iOS 13 and includes many of its new features, such as black mode. But it adds touch controls designed to improve workflow and other modifications to Apple's mobile operating system.
IPadOS was released to the public in the fall of 2019. Read our description of IPOS for more details on the tablet app.
Another change that will take place in the fall of 2019 is the simple way for developers to bring iPad apps to the Mac. Hopefully Apple & # 39; s Pro Catalist will result in more iPad apps coming to the Mac, but will it work in another address?
Can we expect to see more Mac programs on the iPad? It is believed that this is a long-term plan, with the emergence of the first applications of this kind in 2021. But we were able to see Mac programs in IP before that, thanks to the new Sidecar functionality on macOS Catalina that lets users connect your iPad to a compatible Mac and use it as a second screen.
How often does Apple launch the new Apple Pro?
Apple has released at least one new iPad Pro model every year since 2015. Here are the release dates so far:
- IPad Pro 12.9 inches (first generation): November 2015
- IPad Pro 9.7 inches: March 2016
- IPad Pro 12.9 inches (2nd generation): June 2017
- IPad Pro 10.5 inches: June 2017
- IPad Pro 12.9 inches (third generation): November November
- IPad Pro 11in: November 2018
As you can see from those days, there's no reason why Apple should be expected to update the Apple Pro every 12 months. This year's update has no need for IP Pro – Apple fans tend not to update their iPads as often as their iPhones, and that is especially the case with the more expensive and more important Apple Pro.
At the same time, the company needs its premium pro devices to justify the price with the latest generation features, so it won't want to leave the gap too long.
