A few years ago, Apple decided to split the iPhone (iOS) and iPad (iPadOS) operating systems. This split allowed the Big Apple to be able to go at different speeds with different devices. While depending on the material of each product and its launch forecast they might have different functions in the two operating systems. It happened with iOS 16 which introduced new features in lock screen customization, which did not reach iPadOS 16. However, Rumor has it that this custom lock screen could be coming to iPadOS 17.
Lock screen customization is coming to iPadOS 17
iOS 16’s lock screen enabled something that was unimaginable to many: native editing. With this update came the different types of typography at the time, widgets displaying information relevant to the user, wallpapers with effects and a long etcetera. It meant that Not all lock screens are created equal through customization.

A leaker known on Twitter as user@analyst941 pointed out that iPadOS 17 will include these lock screen customization features but this time they will reach the iPad. Thanks to this function we can include some of the following elements on the screen to give it a personal touch:
- Widgets
- Preset wallpapers with emoticons, weather and personal photos
- photographic styles
- depth effect
- New clock fonts
- Adaptation and automatic change of lock screens associated with certain concentration modes
It’s a good time to bring those features already seen in iOS 16 (and which were a huge success) to the next big iPadOS update. remember that Both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will be showcased during the WWDC23 keynote, the National Apple Developers Conference, which will take place on June 5.
