The year 2022 is about to begin, and the iPhone that will see the light of day at the end of it is also starting to emerge with rumors of a 48Mpx camera and 8K video.
Who can at this point start rumors about the next iPhone 14 and have repercussions in the media? Well, not a lot of people, but surely everyone’s list includes Ming-Chi Kuo. This famous analyst who tells you the opposite a few weeks later, today launches his prediction on the iPhone 14, which according to him will include a 48Mpx camera. This camera would be limited to only Pro models, both the iPhone 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max
Why do we want 8K video when 4K TV screens are just becoming mainstream? Well, according to Kuo, being able to use those videos in the new Mixed Reality (AR / VR) glasses that will also see the light of day next year, according to the latest rumors. This new camera could adapt the quality of the images obtained according to the ambient light, so that when conditions are optimal 48Mpx would be used and when light is scarce 12Mpx would be used so that the quality of the photos is better
Camera improvements will continue next year, and Kuo is not staying in the iPhone 14 but is likely to switch to the 2023 model which ensures it will have what is called “Periscope Zoom”. Why this type of Zoom? To increase the distance between the lens and the image sensor for a longer optical zoom. The zoom limitation of mobile phones is largely due to their thinness, and this periscope zoom manages to bypass this limitation to a large extent. The technology works like underwater periscopes: light entering the lens is reflected through mirrors and prisms to reach the sensor, which is not located directly behind the lens.
