There are two tech brands that have managed to create legions of fans. One of them is Apple, which with the designs and performance of its devices has managed to make a difference. The other is Xiaomi, which, like the Californian, has managed to develop its own ecosystem made up of a multitude of products of all kinds. But both are best known for their “smart” phones. In this comparison we put the iPhone 14 against the Xiaomi 12T Pro, two of his latest proposals

Apple iPhone 14 (128GB) – Dark Night
Xiaomi 12T Pro 5G – 8+256GB Smartphone, 6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED Display, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 200MP Camera, 120W Smart Hypercharge, 5000mAh, Cosmic Black (ES Version + 3 Years Warranty)
-
Design: the iPhone 14 has not changed much compared to previous generations, with the glass and aluminum as main materials, which gives it a more “premium” feel and care. The Xiaomi 12T Pro combines plastic with glass and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front. Its finish is matte and it is not as slippery as the others.
-
Screen: We move on to one of the most important sections. Apple keeps the 6.1-inch OLED panel in this terminal, as well as the refresh rate at 60 Hz, something incomprehensible for a terminal of its price and range. However, its image quality and color reproduction are very good, and it supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range formats. That of the Xiaomi 12T Pro is larger, 6.67-inch OLED, with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and also compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10+. If you’re going to consume content regularly, the 12T Pro should be more comfortable. But if more “compact” phones are preferred, the iPhone 14 would be a better option.
-
Processor, RAM and storage: Apple’s hardware-software combination is unbeatable, and the A15 Bionic processor in the iPhone 14 with iOS 16 flies. The performance of the terminal is incredible, and its autonomy, a section that will be covered later, is striking. RAM on iOS devices does not work the same as on Android and can be purchased with 128, 256 or 512 GB of storage. For its part, the Xiaomi 12T Pro is committed to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, one of the best for Android devices, and the RAM options are 8 or 12 GB. The ideal is to bet on the model with more RAM. We have 128 or 256 GB of storage, although on the official site it is only 256 GB.
-
cameras: This is one of the points on which brands focus the most, and Apple is one of the references. The iPhone 14 doesn’t have as many improvements as the Pro models, but it does better images in low light conditions and the new Action mode for super steady handheld video shooting. The Xiaomi 12T Pro packs an impressive 200 MP sensor as the main camera, along with an 8 MP wide-angle and 2 MP macro. However, the software processing plays an important role, and the result is not up to the Apple terminal, as was able to verify the analysis of the colleagues from Xataka.
-
Drums: one of the problems with the Xiaomi 12 was the autonomy, which was low, but it seems that this has been solved with the 12T Pro thanks to the change of processor and a larger battery, holding up to 31 hours of battery life with variable refresh rate (according to the results of the Xataka analysis). Apple promises up to 20 hours of video playback per charge. With normal use, there will be no problem getting through the day. The Xiaomi also supports fast charging at 120W; It is not recommended to be used often, but for specific times it is appreciated.
-
Security: Apple bets on Face ID as a security method, which is very effective and safe. Xiaomi integrates the fingerprint reader under the screen. It’s a matter of taste to prefer one or the other.
-
Price: Those of Cupertino have marked a before and after with this generation, since for the first time all their new smartphones (not counting the SE, which is another league) exceed a thousand dollars. The iPhone 14 starts at 1,009 dollars, while the Xiaomi 12T Pro is more affordable, starting at 799.99 dollars in its basic configuration from the official store.
iPhone 14 VS Xiaomi 12T Pro, which one to buy?
The decision is simple if you prefer iOS or Android, but if the operating system is indifferent, there are more aspects to consider. For example, the screen size, or the 120Hz refresh rate on the Xiaomi, which on the iPhone is limited to 60Hz. And in the case of performance, iOS 16 is like a knock, while Xiaomi with Android and the MIUI customization layer, despite having an interface similar to iOS, is not so smooth.
In addition, Apple provides many years of software updates, something you will not find in the Xiaomi 12T Pro. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12T Pro and its 120W fast charge are appreciated in times of emergency, as well as its lower price.
