The iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro XL are three of the best smartphones in the world and they are devices with a deep photographic nature. Cameras have become indispensable in today’s smartphones and each new generation strives to improve their weak points.
OUR Urban Tecno colleagues were able to test the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro XL and they did an in-depth comparison of their specifications and, most importantly, their cameras. And that’s what we’re going to focus on. We’ve already compared the specs of the iPhone 16 Pro Max with those of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, but now we’ll see them next to the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Camera comparison between iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro XL
Before leaving you with the video comparison, let’s see analyze the sensors that each of these spectacular devices integrates. We look at three of the best photography smartphones we can buy and they have very good rear cameras:
iPhone 16 Pro Max:
- main camera: 48 megapixels, ƒ/1.78 aperture, second-generation optical sensor-shift image stabilization, 100% Focus Pixels, support for ultra-high resolution photos (24 and 48 MP) and 24-equivalent focal length mm.
- Telephoto camera (5x): 12 megapixels, f/2.8 aperture, offering 5x optical zoom and 120mm equivalent focal length.
- ultra wide angle camera: 48 megapixels, ƒ/2.2 aperture, 120° field of view, Hybrid Focus Pixels, super high resolution photos (48 Mpx) and 13 mm equivalent focal length.

Pixel 9 Pro XL

- Telephoto camera (5x): 48 megapixels, 5x optical zoom, ƒ/2.8, 1/2.55 inch diagonal, OIS, multi-directional PDAF, 110mm equivalent focal length.
- Ultra wide angle camera: 48 megapixels, ƒ/1.7, 1/2.55-inch diagonal, multi-directional PDAF, 12mm equivalent focal length.
In terms of camera, the one that seems a little more stable to me, in this case, is that of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. But any of the three in 90% of cases will take very good photos or very good videos. With the exception of low light, the Pixel gets lost there.
There are no big differences in any section, it’s not like years ago when you might see the ultra wide angle video of the Pixel 7 and iPhone 14 Pro and the difference was crazy. Now, there aren’t so many differences, it’s nuances in the most extreme situations where we find the biggest differences.
For everyday use and for most users, these are three incredible phones. The market has stabilized, there are no big differences, there are no big jumps. Rubén Ulloa, Urban Tecno.
From what we see, we are faced three very powerful cameras photographically talk. The differences are becoming smaller and smaller and they are capable of taking very good photos and videos in almost all circumstances. We stuck with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but any option is good if you want a great camera.
