The materials of a device are essential to obtain the highest quality of the product. The iPhone 15 has excellent protection systems both internal and external and one of them is what Apple called Ceramic shield, a layer of front glass (superior to Gorilla Glass) that protects the screen from scratches, bumps and scratches. Apple plans to change the Ceramic Shield of the iPhone 17 to introduce a new anti-glare screen with greater protection power against scratches and external aggressions.
Apple will replace the “Ceramic Shield” with a new anti-glare screen on the iPhone 17
User Instant Digital, increasingly popular on social media, has re-emerged to bring new information from its Asian sources. On this occasion, he speaks of iPhone17, a device that we won’t see until September 2025. Apparently, Apple will do without Ceramic Shield on the iPhone 17 and replace it with one new anti-reflective screen.
Ceramic Shield is the name of the glass material that Apple introduced since the iPhone 12 and is still valid in the iPhone 15. According to the company, its glass is the strongest in the smartphone market.
This anti-reflective screen would be made up of an external layer of glass (what Apple now calls Ceramic Shield) which It will have a super hard anti-reflective coating that is more scratch resistant than ever. Indeed, their sources assure that this screen was going to be available earlier and would have been planned for the iPhone 16, but delays in the production line would have delayed its appearance until the iPhone 17.
In fact, all this literature around an anti-glare screen already seems familiar to us. A few months ago, we met the Gorilla Glass Armor, a new protection created between Corning and Samsung for the Samsung S24 Ultra, a new material that maximizes durability and improves the visual experience with reduced reflections. This technical description coincides with what is projected for the iPhone 17. What remains unknown is whether this technology for the iPhone 17 will be Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor or whether Apple will have gotten rid of the American company, although this seems unlikely given that it has been supplying the Ceramic Shield since years.
