With the year already over, it’s time to watch the first Apple keynote of 2022. And is that in 2021 we were expecting up to five products that ultimately weren’t launched, so we hope to have enough news this year. The most likely date for this first Apple presentation is spring, with Gurman as the main sponsor following his latest revelations on the iPhone SE 3.
iPhone SE 3 with 5G and new Macs for this spring
Spring is a regular time for Apple introductions. And in 2022 the drums are already being heard which announce an imminent. In addition to Gurman, we have a number of products to launch or renew.
Among them is the iPhone SE 3, the successor to Apple’s most affordable terminal. On an iPhone 8 chassis, some would say that it is the same design announced with the 2014 iPhone 6 and they will be right. But what matters is inside. A15 Bionic processor, the same as the iPhone 13, camera improvements and, as a highlight, the 5G connectivity. This latest feature would leave the iPhone 11 as the only device without 5G in Apple’s current catalog.
Other products said to be ready to go include Macs, starting with the “big” iMac 2022, the iMac proMotion that we’ll see this spring. rumored in the Asian supply chain. The MacBook Air M2 could also be the highlight of this keynote, although Apple might prefer to reserve it for WWDC 2022. And the developer event makes other Macs better suited for this audience. Like for example the two rumored Mac Pro models, as well as the possible Apple Display that Gurman pointed out not so long ago.
Finally, we also got to see several minor announcements. For example, new colors on the iPhone 13, as happened with the iPhone 12 purple last year. Improvements and novelties in services such as Apple Fitness + or Apple TV + cannot be ruled out.
Spring, a regular Apple meeting
Since Apple started manufacturing events in spring 2010, the company has scored this season on the calendar up to eight times in eleven years. Only three of those years did not feature a spring keynote. One of them was 2020, the year an event was expected but was canceled by the coronavirus.
As far as distribution goes, five of these events happened in march, while the other three took place in April. The specific days of the month don’t seem to give much more clues, beyond what they were on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. What we do know is that the company sends out the invitations a week in advance.
As can be deduced from the current pandemic situation And given the fact that Apple has indefinitely postponed the return of its employees to offices, the first keynote of 2022 will be virtual. A point that hardly admits of debate. As always, we will be attentive to anything the company may announce.
