A new Sensor Tower study set out to estimate the average amount of money each American iPhone user spent on the App Store in 2020, and the result might surprise you: $ 138 per year. Today it is around 117 dollars, or 9.75 dollars per month.
Taking into account that last year that estimate was $ 100, so that means we have a 38% year-over-year increase in this spending from iPhone owners in the United States. Represents an acceleration of spending, since the growth from 2018 to 2019 was 27%.
Games and casinos, the most profitable
Most of this increase in spending has impacted gaming
And in which games has the most money been invested? Well, in the category of puzzles ($ 15.5 on annual average) and casinos ($ 13.10 on annual average). Or what is the same: in games like Candy Crush and in betting. Now that Apple will start to tighten the screws on the privacy that all of these apps must ensure, it will be interesting to see if these apps continue to collect so much revenue.
