In the first quarter of 2021, Xiaomi’s sales increased by 73% compared to the same period of the previous year. And, apparently, the Chinese company has not stopped pressing the accelerator pedal in the second quarter of the year. Xiaomi has overtaken Apple and placed second on the list of the biggest smartphone sellers.
The first quarter was a great triumph for Xiaomi, which achieved a market share of 18%; as for Apple, which achieved 28% of the market share in the sector of the sale of smartphones. Before the two companies, there was only Samsung, with 32% of sales.

The analytical entity Canalys carried out market estimates in the mobile telephony sector, concluding that the sale of smartphones increased by 12% compared to last year.
Compared to the previous one, during this second quarter, things were very homogeneous among the main manufacturers. Samsung has a 19% market share, while Xiaomi follows closely with 17% and Apple in third place with 14%
Ben Stanton, Research Director at Canalys, said the following:
“Xiaomi is rapidly developing its international activities. Its sales increased by more than 300% in Latin America, 150% in Africa and 50% in Western Europe. “
In another register, we recently learned that Apple had managed to sell more than 100 million units of iPhone 12 in less than 7 months. Still, that couldn’t stop Xiaomi’s impressive growth.
