Is the Pixel finished for the first time?

Finished, Pixel, time

The next big update to Google’s operating system is Android 15. You’ve probably heard that it’s now available, a absolute truth but that doesn’t mean it has reached our smartphone: it has to go through several stages.

Are you waiting for Android 15 on your Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi or Motorola mobile? There is a change of plan in the deployment of the next update, so you just have to keep waiting with Android 14. We review Google’s actions from past years and we glimpse what it will look like on this occasion, which for now It has nothing to do with what we have experienced..

Android 15 is already in AOSP

Yesterday we announced in the news: Android 15 has arrived on AOSP So it is now available. What does this mean? AOSP is the source code of Android, from which everything begins and which includes, among other elements, its core or kernel. Which is rarely updated on our smartphone.

These five new features are coming to all Android phones today, and you don't even need to update them. So you can try them out

Traditionally, the arrival of the new version on AOSP meant the launch on the first mobile phones, that is, on the disappeared Nexus and in recent years on the Google Pixel. Google smartphones are the first to receive the new version of the operating system.

However, this year there was a change of customs: Android 15 reached the AOSP but not the Pixel. In fact, it is expected in the coming weeks, and on this occasion, Google has revealed its new phones without giving them the update. The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have been released with Android 14.

First of all… Like the Google Pixel?

With the source code of the updated operating system with the additions that Google has been testing these months through the beta versions, the development of Android 15 is over. Yes, quarterly releases will arrive for the Pixel and security patches for all manufacturers, but Android 15 as such, it is now available for the rest of the companies to start testing it on their devices.

Due to its proximity to the development, We hope that once again, the Google Pixel will be the first to update. Especially since other brands that use this software have to update their customization layers, making them adapt to Android 15.

There are three new features in Android 15 that Google forgot to highlight. I find them super useful

This will be when phones like Samsung Galaxy, Motorola Moto, Realme, OnePlus, Oppo and company start updating. Of course, as we mentioned earlier, this year we are facing an abnormal situation: new Pixels without new Android, and some dates that danced.

While new versions of Android typically arrive in late August or early September, Android 14 arrived last year in early October alongside the Pixel 8. Once again, the game is changing, opening up new possibilities.

Will this really come first and exclusively (for a limited time) to the Google Pixel? The Pixel 6 and newer models are eagerly awaiting the update, though given the change in plans, another change wouldn’t be unreasonable. Could we see Samsung updating its phones at the same time as Google? One UI 7 has been in development for quite some time.

It’s still a mystery, although at any time Google could appear and press the button. As can be seen in the table, the launch in AOSP and the update of the Pixel have gone hand in hand for a few years. There are exceptions such as a year 2021 marked by the pandemic that caused a small variation.

Anyway, the most decisive change for this course is that the new generation of Google Pixel has landed sooner than ever. Does this mean that the Android 15 rollout will also change? Are there any possibilities for a simultaneous launch with other OEMs? Only time will tell.
