Gurman kicks off the week of January by talking about Apple’s augmented reality headset. The well-known leaker gave new details about the device to Bloomberg, commenting on functions that no other source has given so far.
Specifically, Gurman discovered how the “Reality Pro” could interact with Macs increasing its benefits. In fact, it could become a real computing device, offering a new way to use macOS.
Do you have a Reality Pro? Do you have an external monitor?
Basically, Gurman describes how Apple’s mixed reality headset could become an external Mac display
Moreover, the source claims that regular Apple users will immediately recognize an interface very similar to the one we already have with the iPhone and iPad. The main screen will have icons and widgets, as we already have in iOS and iPadOS, and we can rearrange them without difficulty.
We won’t have controls: we’ll interact with xrOS using our eyes and hands
The device will have a camera system that will analyze our fingers and eyes, with which we will use the interface. there will be no control, we will only have to point our eyes at an interface element and use our fingers to activate it. And on the interface side, a button similar to the digital crown of the Apple Watch will allow us to switch between augmented reality and a virtual reality that isolates us from the real world.
FaceTime will also be one of the protagonists of xrOS: in private conversations between two people, each will be able to see the whole body of the other in high quality. The Memoji would come into play when a videoconference is made between several people.
Gurman ends his article by reiterating other clues he’s already revealed: an external battery that we’d somehow strap to our waists, and adjustable glasses for those of us who need glasses. And best of all: we finally got to see these glasses officially in the spring. Fingers crossed.
