It’s happened to all of us at some point: we’re watching an episode of a series on Netflix from our Smart TV, and for some reason the volume of the dialogue is too low. This makes harder to understand what the characters are sayingand in general it detracts from the experience when watching TV.
It doesn’t matter whether your TV is Android TV or works with any other system because it is not a problem with your Smart TV. The fault, so to speak, lies with Netflix: It’s a configuration error of the application, and fortunately we can solve it in a few seconds.

As we mentioned, this is not a problem with the functioning of your Smart TV, nor a problem with the Netflix application. Rather, it is a configuration error. The problem with low volume in Netflix dialogs comes from the fact that the application believes, or rather, assume we have a surround sound system at home.
In these cases, when we have a 5.1 or higher audio system installed at home, with several speakers and a subwoofer, the application reproduces the sound of series, films and other programs with a positioning more in line with what we see on the screen. That is, if something explodes on our right side, we will hear the explosion mainly from the right side.
Netflix, in some cases, often assumes that the user has a multi-speaker audio system. Therefore, you can default the app sound to a surround system. However, If we only use the TV speakers, the dialogue could be “covered” or overshadowed by other sounds.
We can fix this problem by following these steps directly in the Netflix app:
- We pause the series or movie that we are going to watch and select the button “Others” to configure the audio, which is located under the bar that indicates the playing time
- If the audio is configured for a 5.1 system, we change the settings to a standard audio track
That’s to say, If the audio is configured with the “Spanish (5.1)” option, we select the option that only says “Spanish”. This will set the sound to stereo sound and not surround sound.
And there you have it, Netflix will now use a more optimal configuration for using the TV speakers, which will allow hear dialogue more clearly and thus discover everything that the characters say and what happens in the film.
