There is no summer without me escaping to the Pyrenees. Apart from the usual holidays, whenever I have a free weekend or a long weekend, I take the opportunity to take the car and escape to the mountains. Living in Pamplona is easy and that’s why I do it so often.
However, for convenience, I always find myself either in the Navarrese Pyrenees or in the Aragonese Pyrenees, so Catalan and the one on the other side remain completely unknown to me. What is the Pyrenees Pass and what does it offer best?
The application in question is called Pyrenees Pass and is available for free download on the Google Play Store (and the App Store if you have an iPhone). Some important details: the idea came from a Frenchman and this is evident in the names used (“Foz de Lumbiere” instead of “Foz de Lumbier”) and that there are some untranslated passages, but it’s roughly manageable and There are over 250 companies associated with the project, which is evident in the advertising and suggestions.
As I explained in the intro, what I like most about this app is that it has a complete guide that compiles itineraries and activities both in the Pyrenees region and in the regions where it is located (for example, the Citadel of Pamplona has its entrance, although there are no Pyrenees here), so you can look for routes to do on your own, either doing quiet hikes, trail running or with the family.
Your guide is a real wonder to organize according to the place, the activity or the interestalthough having such long menus sometimes makes it a bit cumbersome and sometimes causes problems when loading maps and routes (but you can always get an idea from here and then search on Wikiloc).
But if you are aiming to plan a getaway and you need accommodation and know the services or events available that will take place, it also compiles them so that you can make better choices. Given that it has this aspect of a tourism agency, there is also advertising and accommodations appear, with the possibility of benefiting from offers and discounts in the booking process.
The app has a social network pointsince as soon as you download the application you will have to create an account and your respective passport will be generated, which will allow you to publish content, follow people and have followers, since it is also used to meet people and create groups or set up meetups, although already personally I have entered this section on many occasions and I rarely see movement. Here, if the app were better known, it would be ideal precisely to facilitate the exchange of plans.
The fact that the app is so ambitious has its B-side: there are sections that are imperfect, others half-finished and that it has two menus with quite similar functions (both give access to the search engine and your profile), one on the side and the other on the bottom part makes things a little confusing at times.
