Smart watches have become one of the portable devices the most requested in Europe. Devices that, in addition to telling the time, are used to monitor different health parameters and track physical activity. There is a wide variety on the market, from the Apple Watch Series 10 to the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. They are now added one with a luxurious design that doesn’t look smart: the Withings ScanWatch Nova.
Withings, a French healthcare company and portable devicessurprised with its latest creation: the ScanWatch Nova. This is a 599.95 Euro smartwatch that offers a luxurious design and appearance and advanced health tracking features; In addition, this device is full of technologies allowing continuous measurements to be carried out autonomously, such as sleep or physical activity monitoring.
At EL ESPAÑOL – Omicrono we tested the Withings ScanWatch Nova for several weeks. A smart watch that has surprised more of those who have seen it, because at first glance it looks like a traditional luxury watch, but it offers great performance and precise health and sports measurements. It even stands out for its great autonomywithout having to recharge it every evening, and for its comfort on the wrist.
An elegant look
One of the main features of Withings ScanWatch Nova is its design and that is At first glance, it looks like a traditional, luxury analog watch.with its minute and hour hands (which light up in the dark); In addition to a dial at the bottom with a needle that records target steps. A smart watch which has a 42 millimeter rotating ceramic and stainless steel bezel available in three colors: black, green and blue – in our case we tested the black one.
The watch also comes with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and metal bracelet, with additional links in the case and with the necessary hardware to remove or add more if necessary; task that can easily be accomplished in just a few minutes. The Withings ScanWatch Nova is really comfortable on the wrist, weighing just 63 grams without the strap, and offers a stylish touch for any occasion, plus stands out for its water resistance at 10 ATM, you can therefore shower or swim in the pool with the device on.
However, the main protagonist is a small circular screen with OLED technology of 0.63 inches located in its upper central part, which gives access to the intelligent functions of the Withings ScanWatch Nova: from displaying the date and time, to heart rate, to skin temperature, to blood oxygen, steps taken, breathing exercises, notifications and more.
A high-resolution grayscale display that provides clear reading and is easy to usebecause it can be activated by turning the wrist or simply by pressing the side crown of the watch; which is also used to navigate the interface and activate the different functions. Something that works really well and intuitively. As a curiosity, if the hour hands cover the screen and you want to see the panel, when you activate it they move to leave the panel visible.
Of course, in Regarding notifications, You miss being able to see them at any time. That is, when you receive a WhatsApp or Telegram message, for example, it instantly appears on the screen and using the crown you can advance to see it more quickly. But if you’re not looking at it at that moment, there’s no way for you to see that notification on the watch. Of course, you can’t reply to messages either.
Smart features
The Withings ScanWatch Nova, although it may not seem like it, is a smartwatch capable of measuring health. It comes with MultiWave PPG and HealthSense TM sensors, as well as the brand’s own operating system, which allows you to track and monitor different health and sports activity parameterswhich are visible on the OLED screen.
Specifically, through the watch screen you can see and monitor heart rate, steps, distance, floors climbedskin temperature, hours of sleep, training, an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood oxygen monitoring, and guided breathing to calm down. Statistics that in testing the ScanWatch Nova performs well and with solid results, in line with other smartwatches (as we compared with other models).
On top of all that, the Withings ScanWatch Nova can also automatically detect certain workouts, like cycling or running, and track monthly cycles. Of course, it doesn’t come with GPS. Although another of the strong points of this smart watch is its autonomy and it has a battery that offers almost a month of duration. In our case, the battery lasted around 28 days, which is much appreciated.
We actually took a long trip with the battery charged and when we returned the battery was still full. Although it takes a few hours to fully charge and the charger, which is nothing more a small plastic docking station with a USB-C portit doesn’t leave the same high-end feeling as the watch. Another interesting section of the ScanWatch Nova is its compatibility with the Withings app, an app that is intuitive and offers a sleek and easy-to-use interface.
The app allows you to customize the screen and the information it displays, including heart rate variability, number of steps taken each day, body temperature variation, activities and more. Through it you can also receive personalized information, view tutorials on device features, activate alarms, sleep quality reports and even recommendations to improve healthamong other elements.
Should I buy it?
The Withings ScanWatch Nova is a really interesting hybrid watch, even if it’s not exactly cheap: it costs 599.95 dollars. It stands out mainly for its luxury analog design that offers elegance and style, combined with sensors and technologies that make it a smart watch. An ideal device for those looking for something different and not the classic smart watch with full screen.
