With the success of Xiaomi’s first car already confirmed, it was an open secret that the company was preparing a second model to accompany it. We are not talking about the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the racing version of the electric sedan, but about a new model, a larger and more practical SUV but retaining the sportiness.
The new model, which could use code name MX11already appeared a few months ago on Chinese roads; but since then, we have not had any news of this internal Xiaomi project. Until now.
As a result, the Xiaomi SUV appeared in public, both on city roads and in a parking lot, and it did not go unnoticed. Many passersby realized that it was a special car and took several photos with their mobile phones that they uploaded to social networks.
Thanks to these photos, we now know more details about this supposed MX11. It is confirmed that it will be a sports SUV in the Ferrari Purosangue styleand Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun seemed to advance this point by talking about an “accessible premium” car. It is well known, and acknowledged by Lei Jun himself, that the Xiaomi SU7 had as its main inspiration Porsche and its electric Taycan; with the MX11, the inspiration seems to come from Ferrari, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The bottom line is that it is not a big boxy SUV, but something smaller; A photo in which it appears next to an Audi A4 shows that it has similar dimensions, although it is a little larger; The shape is a little more dynamic compared to that of a conventional SUV, and The rear is particularly sportyeven if it means sacrificing storage space in the trunk.
Another interesting detail is found in the few photos of the MX11’s interior that have been shared; To the surprise of many, the interior is not identical to the SU7but it has some differences.
The MX11 can be expected to share many parts with the SU7, including its chassis, electric motor, and batteries; inside, you can see that it will also use the same steering wheel and even the same floating touchscreen on the dashboard. However, the center console is completely different, both in size and shape, which is evident if you look at the cup holders.
The announcement of the Xiaomi MX11 (if that is its final name) is expected by the end of the year; perhaps close to the announcement of the brand’s new mobile phones, the Xiaomi 15 range, or perhaps during the same presentation. The launch would, however, only take place several months later, probably mid-2025 if the deadlines are the same as those of the SU7.
