As usually happens at the start of the year, Samsung already has its family of mobiles featured for the whole of 2024. After our first tests, the Samsung Galaxy S24 they seem continuous, they are evolving in power and revolutionizing AI, but not much more. Yes, there is one aspect that, after testing it, seems very remarkable to us: the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
It’s no surprise that Samsung put all the effort into creating an exceptional Ultra, both in terms of hardware and software. It changed the trend with a screen without curves, an aspect that seemed very notable to us. Precisely, the option of the right panel is perhaps linked to a component which turns out to be distinctive: Corning Gorilla Glass Armor. We expected it to be more durable and it surprised us in another aspect: The reflections
Reduction of reflections on the Galaxy S24 Ultra is noticeable
According to the specifications of Corning’s new tempered glass, it improves surface hardness and impact resistance, something common in the evolutions of these components. Additionally, there is one aspect that initially seemed more promising than reality: Corning Gorilla Glass Armor promises to reduce reflections by 75% compared to previous glasses.
With this ambition as a flag, and after the collaboration between Corning and Samsung, we can corroborate that the reflection reduction is real
In the photos, we can see the reduction in reflections offered by the Armor of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: the mobile appears facing an iPhone 15 Pro and a POCO F3. Samsung screen is completely black compared to the satin gray of the competition. This is with the panel off and the light falling directly on the screens, as the improvement is particularly noticeable when using the panel.
By reducing reflections Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra should increase brightness to a lesser extent to make what appears printed on the screen clearer. And when you tilt the viewing angle, you can see the partial reflection of incident light on non-Armor lenses.
Thanks to the reduction of reflections, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra achieves lower power consumption by not needing as much brightness from the AMOLED panel and makes viewing your phone less tiring. Although of course, this advantage is valid as long as you do not put a screen protector on it: to take advantage of the advantages of Gorilla Glass Armor, you must opt for the “bareback” mobile. Hopefully the promised improvement in scratch protection is just as effective.
