Last week, the content platform Netflix announced an increase in all packages available in Europe; even with an increase of more than 60% for some, to the surprise of many. Today at least there is news that has nothing to do with your subscriptions, and everything to do with a new feature for your mobile app: ‘Moments’.
This new experience coming to Netflix is similar to the video clips feature already available on YouTube and Twitch, so for a good percentage of users it’s not something totally new, but for many others it’s certainly the case. And here is what is interesting about this new function because it is one of the most used platforms throughout Europe by all types of users.
Netflix is rolling out the new feature called “Moments” that let you save, share and view again certain scenes from series and films present on the platform. This special moment in a series like The officein which one of its protagonists causes damage, or a panoramic view from one of the platform’s nature documentaries, can now be shared in a simple way.
It works in such a way that when the user sees a scene that they want to save or share, Just click on the ‘Moments’ button at the top of the screen. This video fragment will be saved in the “My Netflix” tab.
THE the experience is based on the possibility of returning to those saved moments from the mobile phone whenever the user wants. And in fact, the platform warns that episodes and films will start playing from the marked scenes when the user wants to replay them.
Of course, its use is ideal for share moments on social networks or in chats in messaging applications. In fact, it is another of its objectives that users share Netflix content in order to encourage others to watch these series or new films released on the platform.
And another aspect to take into account about this function is that since it can be saved in the ‘My Netflix’ tab —and it’s not the best time to share a scene because of hours or any other circumstances— be able to save it to share a fragment of a film or series also add more value to the experience itself. In fact, they can be shared from the same tab where they are saved.
Netflix Moments starts rolling out today in the iOS app, depending on Engadgetand in the coming weeks it will do so on Android. There is another interesting point in the announcement of the platform on its website, which is that the idea is to improve this experience to extend it with more functions, although it has not revealed any details on how she plans to do it.
