YouTube Music is the music streaming service born from YouTube to offer millions of songs to its users. After testing the karaoke function with real-time lyrics and the Year-End Recap, a redesign is coming to the official app.
The big change in design happened in the library, the section where we manage our songs, artists, albums and playlists. now we can filter the content of it as well as changing the overall appearance.
Library now shows new filters and looks more organized
Google’s commitment to music streaming has been touted since 2018 as an alternative to Spotify, but the YouTube Music app has come under heavy criticism from users. And it is true that they are justified, because the design of the application has changed little since its launch.
Fortunately, the redesign that affects the library is important and We now have a more intuitive interface with more possibilities. To access the redesign, we had to forcefully shut down the app, since it’s not an update that enables the change.
The first thing that catches your eye is the notice the app itself makes to let you know about the change. We receive a small balloon which confirms it: “Getting around the library just got easier
As we can see from the screenshots, we no longer find a list of sections as we had before, but we directly see our recent activity. All this activity in the form of music can be filtered with the top buttons, switch between content type. Now we can choose between playlists, songs, albums and artists. When you tap on one of these filters, it remains active and displays only the content in question.
Second novelty, on the main screen of the library, you can change the location of the files we view. By touching “Library” it is possible to switch between “Downloads” or “Files from the device” in case we want to play songs that we have stored in the internal memory of the mobile.
The YouTube Music Library design change This is the first novelty of the year for Google’s music platform. Users will appreciate the improvement, but it still has a long way to go to deliver the same experience as its most direct competitors.
