Vivo’s commitment to folding mobiles is clear. In addition to the new Vivo X Flip, the Chinese company also introduced the second generation of its first foldable, the Vivo X Fold.

At first glance it may seem that there are not many new features to mention, but in reality we are faced with a device improved in all respects; Unsurprisingly, it is also the most expensive mobile that the brand will offer.

New Vivo X Fold 2

Basically, the Vivo X Fold 2 could not evolve much, since in reality it is the third version of this mobile launched in barely a year. In April last year the Vivo X Fold arrived and in September the Vivo X Fold +, a renewed version, was presented.

With all that, we mean that the news exists, but that doesn’t translate into a completely different device. There are details that are, like the camera array and the rear which now offers a new design and a more ‘premium’ feel in the hand.

Like previous models, the Vivo X Fold 2 takes advantage of Samsung’s flexible E6 panels, inside and out for the best image quality. In this case, the internal screen has a size of 8.03 inches and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz with a maximum brightness of 1800 nits. On the other hand, the external screen measures 6.53 inches. Both screens have an integrated ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

The most obvious improvements over the last generation are in the size of the device, which has reduced its thickness by two millimeters in addition to losing 33 grams of weight. Part of the blame goes to the new hinge, developed in-house by Vivo using a stronger and lighter aerospace material. In Vivo’s tests, the hinge was opened and closed 400,000 times. Another benefit is the hinge design, which helps create a 5mm “drop” when closed and allows the screen to lay flatter when the device is open.

Inside, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 proves this is a premium device. Likewise, the cameras are worth mentioning; In addition to the main 50MP and the wide-angle 12MP, we have a 12MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom. The cameras are powered by Vivo’s own chip, the V2. The battery is 4800 mAh and has 120W fast charging.

The Vivo X Fold 2 will be available in China for 8,999 yuan (1,194 dollars to change), with no news yet on its launch in Europe.
