The Jabra Elite 45h combine harvester a good build with excellent battery life, a very useful and very well done application, and surprising sound quality for headphones priced below $ 100.
Specifications and design
We are faced with over-the-ear headphones, that is, they don’t completely cover your ears, but just stay above them. This makes them smaller than other models, which promotes their portability, comfort and safety. There is no type of noise cancellation, they let you hear what is going on around you which is essential if you want to use them on the street. But don’t worry because they have more than enough volume, you won’t need to turn them on maximum to listen to music on the street. And if you want to use them on those hot days, your ears will sweat less than those that completely cover the ears.
They’re plastic, but you won’t get a cheap-built feel when you pick them up with your hands, far from it. They are very well finished and also seem quite durable. Ear pads and headband are covered with synthetic leather, giving you great comfort, being able to wear them for many hours without the slightest problem.
They connect via Bluetooth (5.0) to your smartphone, computer or tablet, allowing up to two devices in memory. The connection is very stable and the range is the usual one, allowing you to move around different rooms in the house without having to carry the iPhone with you. Its physical control buttons allow you to manage volume, playback and answer calls, as well as a specific button for Siri (or Google Assistant). It does not have a Jack connection to be able to place a cable, and the connection to recharge it is USB-C type. To be able to make phone calls or requests to Siri, they have two microphones, which work quite decently.
Autonomy is a point very in favor of these Jabra Elite 45h, with a total of 50 hours of autonomy according to Jabra. I couldn’t check your battery, but you can tell I have used them for about two weeks almost daily and have yet to recharge them
Sound quality
Realizing the good reviews Jabra has regarding its True Wireless headphones, I had good expectations with these Elite 45hs, but the reality is that they far exceeded them. The sound is very balanced, without the bass standing out from other sounds. The music is heard in great detail, the volume is better than good and although there is no passive or active cancellation, you can enjoy music, podcasts or movies even in noisy environments. To get sound distortion, I had to use very high volumes, which is not recommended.
This sound quality is supported by its app, Jabra Sound + (link), which allows you to tailor the sound of the headphones to your hearing ability. To do this, you will need to pass a very simple little test after which the headphones will take care of making the best sound your ears can hear. You can also modify it, using the equalizer which incorporates
Editor’s opinion
The Jabra Elite 45h offers higher sound quality than you could ask for in a headset under $ 100. If we add to that a battery life of up to 50 hours, superior comfort and an app that lets you customize the sound to your liking, we can’t find any other headphones that can compete with them in this price range. You can buy them on Amazon for 99 $ (link) and are available in black, blue and beige.
