July Android Update Fixes Critical System Vulnerability
Google has updated the Android security bulletin with the July 1st patch, an update that, as usual, fixes various vulnerabilities located in AOSP. Although this month there is a particularly important one that could open the door to total control of devices without the intruder needing special permissions in the system.
As confirmed by Google, the vulnerability CVE-2024-31320 This is critical and would affect Android 12 and Android 12L versions. In the company’s words:
“A critical security vulnerability in the framework component that could lead to local elevation of privilege without the need for additional execution privileges“.
In addition to the critical vulnerability, the July security patch fixes more than 25 issues found in Android software. The update is now ready for distribution, the distro said. This will be done gradually. and as manufacturers adapt it to their devices, Google delivers the fix a month early so it can include it in its support service.
The Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy should be the first to be updated. At the moment, the July patch is not yet available, but it should be soon. To find out if it is ready, just go to the mobile settings and search for a new update.
