It seems like the time has come to focus on the smart home; The market is mature enough to justify purchasing devices such as smart locks or smart blinds. And now Android users can finally stop envying iPhone users and Apple's platform, with the arrival of one of its best exclusive brands: Day before.
Eve is the maker of some of the most popular smart home devices, with a large catalog cameras, connected sockets, thermostats, weather stations and lamps. Its products are sold in Europe, both through the official website and through its store on Amazon. Unfortunately, Android users had little reason to buy them; Indeed, until now, Eve has given exclusive priority to the Apple Home platform.
Today, after several years of promises, Eve has finally launched its first application for Androidcalled Eve for Matter, which allows complete control of your devices. In all honesty, it must be said that it was already possible to control several Eve devices from an Android mobile, thanks to the new industry standard, Matter. However, this implementation is somewhat limited and does not provide access to advanced features of your devices. So it still wasn't a real solution for Android users.
The new Eve for Matter app aims to address the lack of support on Android. As the name suggests, this app is still based on Matter, but now allows you to access devices with the same level of control and possibilities as in the iPhone app; or rather “device” in the singular.
And Eve for Matter is currently only compatible with one brand device, El Eve Thermoa smart valve for radiators that allows us to control the room temperature using our voice, the app or integrated controls; Thanks to its intelligent functions, it can be programmed to activate at certain times of the day or depending on the presence of people at home. It costs 79.95 dollars and is now available in the Eve store and on Amazon.
The company promised that in the future, will expand support to other Eve devicesbut that their priority was to obtain Thermo compatibility in time for the winter season; That's why she chose to launch the app now, even though it's only compatible with one product.
At the moment, the app is only compatible with Google Home, although Eve promises compatibility with other platforms. This delay was necessary because Eve wants to ensure that its products meet the brand's three promises: they can be used without a subscription, they do not use the cloud and they maintain maximum confidentiality.
Despite this very limited release, it's great news that Eve now also supports Android. And much of the blame lies the new industry standard, Matter. With the launch of Matter, Internet of Things devices can be compatible with all major platforms, and thanks to Thread it is possible to control them directly from our TV, mobile phone or tablet.
This way, each manufacturer can continue to maintain its own proprietary platform, while still allowing users to choose the product that truly meets their needs. Matter's success is evident when it managed to convince one of the top brands to drop its exclusivity with Apple.
