WhatsApp continues to improve step by step with new functions and features. Today we know two new features which come to deactivate unknown calls, and incidentally, to check the confidentiality of our profile in the most used messaging application.

One and the other are added to the sequence of functions added recently, in addition the availability is total. we tell you what they are and how to access the privacy panel.

Say no to calls from strangers

Calls from strangers are annoying, regardless of our situation. It is not pleasant to receive unknown calls, even less to have to take them. In WhatsApp it may be a common practice, but now we will be better protected.

If we go to settings of the application, and go to the section privacywe are going to see a new option: this is callswhere is the parameter “Stop calls from unknown numbers“. By activating this switch, we will stop listening calls from numbers that are not in our directory. However, they will remain in the call list and in notifications.

There second novelty refers to a new panel to verify our privacy. With the increase in the number of options in this section, one place has been chosen to have them all. It is something similar to what we see in other Meta applications.

This privacy check, will appear as a notice at the top on the screen, right in the privacy settings section. The options that we find are not different from what we have already seen, but now we will have everything in the same corner, which will allow the user to find said elements more easily.

Thanks to the new privacy panel, we can change the contacts who can reach us, in addition to other elements such as personal information that we share or shortcuts to increase the privacy of our chats. In summary, here is what has been added to the panel:

  • Who can contact you: It connects us to the configuration of who can add us to groups, silence calls from strangers or block contacts.
  • Your personal information: Here we can change our profile picture, as well as change who can check the last login time or read receipts.
  • More privacy for your chats: here we will see the configuration of aspects such as the default duration of chats or encrypted backup copies.
  • Protection for your account: refers to security methods such as fingerprint protection or two-step verification.

At the moment, users can already access the settings for disabling unknown callers, but we were also able to use the new control panel. However, if you still don’t see them, you will have to wait for the deployment which can take several days.
