One of the reasons why we use cell phones so much in Europe, as in other countries, is that they are connected to the Internet. If smartphones didn’t have a data connection or WiFi connection, they would still be useful, but they wouldn’t be used even a tenth of the time.
This is possible thanks to two things. On the one hand, we have data rates, many of which are unlimited, which are at very low prices, especially compared to other countries and what was available in Europe just a few years ago. On the other hand, we have fiber optic connections, which allow us to have speeds much higher than those usually necessary.
The problem with these connections is that in the vast majority of cases they are used via a WiFi routerwhich implies that part of this speed is lost, unless we have a very advanced router, a mobile phone with the latest technology and perfect coverage. Too many conditions.
To overcome these obstacles, Android phones allow you to use Ethernet Network Adapterswhich allow you to connect your mobile phone to the router via cable using an Ethernet cable that normally comes with the router itself or can be purchased from many stores.
These adapters, like the one sold by Lidl for 11.99 dollars, allow you to connect the cell phone to the Ethernet connector, much thicker than the cell phone itself. It has a Gigabit Ethernet connection and two ports, a female Ethernet for the cable and a male USB-C to connect it to the mobile. It supports “Plug and play” and “Hot Swap” functions and the length of the adapter is about 15cm. It has “Twisted Pair Crossover” detection and automatic correction functions and is compatible with 10/100/1000 Mbps networks.
Another use of this type of adapter is that it allows you to convert your mobile phone into a computer router provided that it has an Ethernet connector. With With a cable you can connect the computer to the adapter and that to the mobile. Once this is done, you just have to go to the settings and configure the Share connection via Ethernet option, in the same way as we do via WiFi but with this option being much more secure.
