In recent months we have seen that Xiaomi’s cheap mobiles meet more than the specifications, but not so much at the software level, with an excessively heavy interface. This is something that I highlighted a lot in the analysis of the Redmi Note 11, which struggled to make the interface move. Something similar happened in the Poco X4 Pro, but not as pronounced.
That is why in Poco they are considering the possibility of creating a less heavy version of MIUI so that cheaper mobiles do not have problems when moving, which seems to us simply great.
MIUI is too heavy even for the mid-range
In recent years we have seen how MIUI has become more complex to such an extent that it has begun to affect the speed of many day-to-day mobiles, even mid-range terminals, not just entry-level ones. It is true that at the top of the range this is not a problem, but still Xiaomi cannot neglect the performance of its best-selling mobiles, the Redmi.
Something similar happens to Poco since it uses MIUI for Poco, a slightly modified version of the interface, but with the same problems and advantages as the Xiaomi version.
In an interview given to XDA Developers by the general manager of Poco, Kevin Qiuand the marketing manager, Angus Kai Ho Ngit has been acknowledged that the company is investigating the use of a lite version of MIUI on certain models.
This does not mean that we are going to see any changes in the short term, especially since Xiaomi will be the one to have to authorize something like this, but we really hope that this idea will be executed and that Xiaomi will also realize it in its cheaper models , because that’s your biggest problem.
With competition as strong as realme and OPPO in the entry range, Xiaomi needs to solve this problem while being number one in countries like Europe, before that changes.
