The holidays have arrived and of course it is often difficult to fit all the luggage in the trunk of the car, so a good option is to send part of the luggage directly to our holiday destination via parcel companies like Correos Express.
An Apple user decided to send his baby’s stroller to a vacation destination and had to retrieve it using the location of the AirTag he had attached to it.
The story of a shipment
It was August 15, the second “exit operation” of the summer in USA. Since his vehicle did not contain enough luggage for two weeks and his baby’s stroller, the protagonist of our story decided to use the services of Package link, a courier intermediary who, in theory, seeks the fastest and cheapest service to send your packages.
In this sense, the user has subscribed to a “Paq24” service with Correos Express, the parcel subsidiary of the Spanish Grupo Correos, and who assured him that if he collected the cart on August 16, it would be available on Saturday, August 17. to be able to enjoy the two weeks of vacation he had left in his destination, Roquetas de Mar (Almería).
The truth is that, despite the previous commitment, Correos Express did not seem to collect the package originally until Saturday, August 24, more than a week late. However, according to the instructions of the courier company, on August 24, her baby’s stroller was already at its destination (Almería). However, the truth is that, As a prudent man is worth two, the protagonist of our story decided to place an Apple AirTag in his baby’s pram, properly packed, to be able to control the entire journey of such a precious object.
This is how he was able to know that in reality, the car had never left the Correos Express headquarters in Madrid, even though, in the meantime, Correos Express constantly indicated that the package was being delivered to the destination city, something which, as we will see below, never actually happened.
AirTag, an element in constant position
At this point, it is important to understand how an AirTag works. This device, andSends secure signals via low-energy Bluetooth (UWB) protocol to any compatible Apple device. This Apple product would connect to all devices equipped with an Apple U1 processor, that is, to any Apple product launched from 2019, since this technology debuted with the iPhone 11.
Think about it, any iPad, any Apple Watch, Any iPhone that comes within 50 feet of the AirTag would create a network of Bluetooth connections that would allow you to accurately locate the AirTag. since all these devices would connect to each other to signal that the locator is located in a specific area.
The chances of an iPhone passing near an AirTag are very high if we take into account that the iPhone is precisely the best-selling smartphone on the market, a fact that is multiplying to infinity if we take into account the rest of Apple accessories. For all these reasons, the Apple Watch, also compatible with some Android products, becomes the most accurate locator on the market.
To this must be added that the AirTag is a waterproof product, its autonomy is more than a year and it has various location features such as “lost mode”. and sound production, we put together the ingredients for the perfect potion. All for just $29 each (or $100 for a pack of four).
It’s time to get the car back.
It was already August 30th and the package was not delivered. When the user tried to contact Correos Express via the phone number Customer service, It was never received, because the call kept hanging up after the robot intervened. The same thing happened with PackLink, the intermediary limited himself to stating that Correos Express had broken or lost the package, and that he would have to wait 30 days for the company to offer compensation for the contents of the package.
Despite The user sent PackLink and Correos Express screenshots of the Search application that located the car at the company’s headquarters, They never made it easy to get him back, so he decided to do something about it.
Thus, the protagonist of our story went to the Correos Express headquarters in Coslada (Madrid), where he was received in a hostile manner by private security, who told him that he could not be there and invited him to leave. It was only when he threatened to request the presence of the police that he was taken care of by a shipowner.
At present, It was only when he pointed out that there was a locator in the package that they were willing to offer him help. So by activating the “lost mode” which sends notifications to all iPhone users within a radius of 15 meters, and emitting the search sound, the manager slowly moved towards the package which was inevitably located.
Contacted through this channel, the official explanation from Correos Express is as follows: The label fell off the package and only the label arrived in Almeria, but not the package.
The story is incredible given that the package was of more than considerable size. Furthermore, as the photographs show, it was opened without the user’s permission, for no apparent reason, since the latter insisted, despite the many indications offered, on the fact that it was broken or lost.
And that’s how it is, thanks again AirTag, The user was able to recover a car valued at several hundred dollars and that PackLink and Correos Express would have considered lost. Obviously, the fact that he spent his entire vacation without his six-month-old daughter’s car is just an anecdote.
THE moral Here, if you have a minimum appreciation for the merchandise to be sent, use an AirTag to ensure that it does not get lost or misplaced on the courier company’s ship.
