Nearly a year has passed since Rockstar released the long-awaited (and leaked) first trailer for GTA VI. For the moment, no official news. Rumors suggest that In the coming weeks we will see the second trailer announcing the release date and, barring any surprises, it will be for 2025. Twelve years will have passed since the launch of GTA V.
At this point, it is expected that the title will be available on the latest generations of Sony and Microsoft consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. Macs are compatible. There is nothing confirmed in this regard, but there are serious indications that, even if it is not officially the case, it will be playable and without performance issues.
Who said Macs weren’t for gaming?
There’s one fact that even the most enthusiastic Apple enthusiasts can’t deny: Macs have never been computers since players. And if they could have been, it would certainly be one of the last options. Today, everything has changed on Apple computers
This aforementioned processor has elements never seen before in terms of Apple processors and could perfectly compete with an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 like that of the PlayStation 5.

Apart from all this data, and as we already saw with last year’s MacBook Pro M3 Max, these chips can support games with high graphics performance such as “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Elden Ring” , “Howards Legacy” or “Assassin’s Creed Mirage”. ‘ . And of course, with additions like raytracing, the game mode introduced in macOS 15 to focus the computer’s performance on video gaming or the already known compatibility of game controllers with the Mac.
It cannot be denied that there are still some interesting options with Windows and the ability to further customize components. However, what the MacBook Pros offer with the M4 Max is impressive and, at the very least, enough to run games like GTA VI. And that, when it comes to a commercial laptop, is not common.
Of course, we do not ignore other differential elements such as 14 or 16 inch MiniLED screens that these new MacBook Pros go up to gaming without external monitors. They have refresh rates up to 120Hz and even the option to add nano-textured glass.
GTA VI can be played on Mac the same day it can be played on PC
Not that Rockstar or Apple have confirmed it. In fact, as of today there are no rumors about it and if it ends up being compatible it will probably be a few months after launch. In fact, barring any surprises, Rockstar will first bet on compatibility with the PS5 and Xbox Series X and, after a few months, will do it with Windows and, hopefully, also with macOS.
However, it is not necessary that we officially have a version for Mac and the fact is that. There are tools to run PC games on Mac as a “Game Port Kit”. Also known by its acronym GPK, it is a pack from Apple itself aimed at video game developers to try them on Mac and with a little skill and a developer profile, anyone can do it. to use. However, there are other options in the form of applications like “PlayOnMac” or the classic “Parallels” and company to virtualize Windows on macOS.
As we said in the introduction, rumors and fan theories revolve around the fact that soon we will have the second and final trailer of GTA VI. It will most likely be in December, although it is not excluded that it will be done in these November days. Rockstar will now give a release date that points towards the end of 2025. And yes, it seems like a world to wait another year, but it would be better to think that it will be “only” a few months after so much waiting. You will soon enjoy it on your Mac.
