New rumors assure that we will see very important improvements in iOS 16, the new iPhone operating system will be presented in a few days.
We are one week away from the official presentation of iOS 16, which will take place during the WWDC 22 opening conference, so there is very little left to know about the new iPhone operating system and lots of interesting news just leaked. In his newsletter each week, Mark Gurman gave some clues about what’s new in iOS 16.
In recent months, some iOS 16 leaks, improvements in widgets, news in notifications and even the list of compatible devices. And although a radical change is not planned, it seems that we will have more than interesting improvements according to Gurman.
From what I’ve been told, the new iOS 16 software, codenamed Sydney, is a pretty big update.
New iOS 16 Leaks
The first major change that Gurman highlights is a new lock screen on iphone. Apparently, we will have some kind of widgets on the iPhone lock screen, but they will be “embedded” with different styles of wallpapers.
Apple is planning major improvements to the lock screen, including wallpapers with widget-like functionality.
Additionally, Gurman confirms the rumor about the iPhone 14 Pro always-on screen, as iOS 16 will support this feature. Although that may remain a secret until the iPhone 14 launches in September.
Additionally, I’ve been told that iOS 16 is building on future support for an always-on lock screen, which Apple originally planned for last year’s iPhone 13.
Gurman also reports a major change in the multitasking windows. While he doesn’t expect design changes as drastic as what we saw in iOS 7, Gurman says this interface element will be completely revamped, which will be especially appreciated on the iPad.
While I don’t expect a complete iOS 7 overhaul in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, I do expect major changes to windows and multitasking, especially on the iPad.
We’ll see what’s new in messages app, which Apple wants to make look more like a social network. Gurman explains that we will see particularly relevant developments in audio messages. In addition, the Health application will include new improvements, although for now it will still not be available on iPad and Mac.
In Messages, you’d expect more social media-like features, especially around audio messages.
As we see, they are expected very interesting improvements in iOS 16, especially this new lock screen. This screen has hardly changed since iOS 1.0, keeping the time in the center and offering two shortcuts, in addition to the widgets on the left. We’ll see what Apple thought, maybe it’s something similar to the complications we have in the Apple Watch.
