Mark Gurman plans AirPods 3 for this year and takes AirPods Pro to 2022

Mark Gurman gave new details on the future of the AirPods line before the end of the week. Bloomberg editor places the launch of the AirPods 3 for this year (without specifying more detailed dates), and takes The AirPods Pro 2 Next year.

The characteristics of the third generation AirPods that Gurman comments on are consistent with what has already been discussed in other rumors: its design will change to resemble the current AirPods Pro

and its case will open horizontally. The lower part which protrudes from the ear and which houses the battery will also be shorter.

In the second generation of AirPods Pro, there would be more internal changes than external: the headphones add sensors to record physical activity data

practiced by its users. Apparently Apple wanted to launch them this year, but now a delay would have taken the accessory until 2022. Maybe the semiconductor shortage is wreaking havoc with Apple’s agenda?

Another interesting fact that Gurman comments on is that Apple is not working on a second generation of AirPods Max for the time being, although on the table there are possible plans to launch more colors of the current generation. Not a trace of this “Sport” range evoked by rumors from the past.

AirPods have become a major revenue pillar in the accessories division, along with the Apple Watch. A gradual launch of new models should motivate this growth to keep pace.
