Celia is the name of more than 53,000 women in USA according to the INE. It is also the name of the protagonist of the series of the same name from the 90s. He is even a Huawei intelligent assistant. And precisely linked to the above, it is also the name of a new particular chatbot intended to combat unwanted lonelinessespecially for the elderly.
In this case it does not come from Huawei, but from an independent project supported by the Xunta de Galicia and integrated into WhatsApp just like the Pi assistant or the also Spanish LuzIA. It also builds on ChatGPT technology, but with some training to target a very specific (and unfortunately broad) niche of the population.
An AI dedicated to elderly and/or dependent people
Like other chatbots developed with artificial intelligence, Celia does not close. It is available 24/7. Its mission is to accompaniment, support, entertainment and even a mental illness detector in the early stages. So, although it is accessible to everyone, it makes more sense for an elderly person, although it is also aimed at elderly care centers, hospitals and dependent people.
Something that stands out about Celia and has a clear purpose is that is able to connect to the Internet and view all types of data from web pages. This is how it can be used to offer curious facts of the day such as Saints’ Day, birthdays or the most notable news of the day in general or in a particular area.
On the other hand, he proposes entertainment options you don’t even have to leave WhatsApp for. Let’s take riddles or crosswords as an example, which also help keep the brain in shape, although their health section is even more complete.
As explained on the official Celia website, the assistants offer tests aimed at stimulating cognitive skills and this can be used as neuropsychological tests to detect the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
