At WWDC in 2019 Tim Cook and his team present their new plans for the world. Among them was an iOS branch of the IP for IP they were calling IPadOS. The company has made the giant apple tablet rise in ashes, giving it a new point of view that creates endless news since its announcement. In that presentation we used it The name of Microsft as proof that iPadOS may allow to open different windows for the same application. One year later, this function is not available to all users. A few days ago the tab was going: Microsoft has released this multi-windows mode in beta.
It's been over a year, but most of the window comes to Microsoft apps
Microsoft provides a sequence of tasks for its selected group of beta testers under the tool Windows Insider. This feature allows access to under-development activities and tools and does not want to be publicly presented, but rather get feedback on their performance in order to facilitate global delivery. In the meantime, the work that was just unveiled in June 2019 is included, too late but it's coming … beta testers.
It's about use the iPad screen with iPadOS and be able to use that possibility open many Microsoft Word and Powerpoint windows. In other words, work with two documents from the same or different application at the same time. As we can see in the article published on its official blog, in order to solicit this activity, we have to do it in one of the following ways:
- Touch and hold a file from the list of "newly uploaded, shared and open" files in the app (Word or Powerpoint) and move it to the edge of the screen (left or right) and wait for the window to be displayed.
- In Word or Powerpoint, swipe to expand the booth. Pause the icon of the app in question and drag it to the side of the screen to select later the document we want to open.
- From any of these applications, open the "Recent, Shared and Open" categories. Then click "…" on the file you want to open and click on "open in new window".
That way, we can work through several windows of the same or different application. This feature is available within the Microsoft Betas Insider program. However, we do not know the exact date of this work. But if you want to try the tool because you think it can be useful before it's launched, you can sign up for the Insider program from the link.
