Little by little, more details are emerging about what we can or cannot do with the new Apple Studio Display. This monitor combines screen, speakers, webcam and USB-C port hub, but its accessories and its compatibility will have to be looked at with a magnifying glass.
Some iPads will not be compatible with the Apple Studio Display
A first important point is that this Studio Display will not work with iPad mini 6 or iPad Air 4 (the generation before the one just presented), but it will do so with the iPad Air 5 and presumably the iPad Pro. It would seem that more than the USB-C port, the important thing here is that the tablets have a sufficiently powerful chip. à to move all the pixels.
It’s unclear if other generations of iPad Pro (like the A12Z or A12X chips) can support the Studio Display, so we’ll have to wait for testing to see for ourselves.
Another detail that can be seen on the instructor reservation page: brackets are not interchangeable. If you choose the stand with adjustable inclination, you will not be able to upgrade to the one that allows you to adjust the inclination and the height and vice versa. If you want this monitor, you’ll need to decide on your stand before purchase because that’s the one you’ll have throughout its lifespan. Don’t forget that you can always choose a mounting bracket so that you can use a third-party stand or arm.
One last detail: this Apple Studio Display Do not include cleaning cloth. We can talk about the 25 euro cloth that the company sells you separately, but luckily we can use cheaper microfiber cloths that we have.
