super fast screen
The Moto X40 is the mobile that in Europe will probably be known as Edge 40 and therefore it is the model that has the most powerful hardware in the range so far. We have already talked about one of these hardware, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor thanks to which the X40 instantly becomes one of the most powerful mobiles on the market. To make life easier for the processor, Motorola has implemented a cooling system that it describes as “three-dimensional” to dissipate the heat generated.
But Motorola decided not to stop there, and the X40 will have something other phones with the same processor don’t: one of the fastest screens we’ve seen so far. The 6.7-inch panel achieves a refresh rate of at least 165 Hzsomething really rare in an industry where 120Hz screens are generally common.
We’ve seen 144Hz screens on occasion, although most use IPS technology; Instead, the Moto X40 uses an AMOLED display that curves around the sides, so it didn’t have to sacrifice image quality or ‘premium’ presence to achieve such speed. It will be interesting to see how this affects the battery, although we have no doubt that it should be very good for enjoying video games.
Perhaps for this reason the Moto X40 will have a variant with a 5,000mAh battery which should help get more hours of use, although in return charging remains at 68W; instead, if we choose the 4600 mAh battery, we will have a 125W fast chargeone of the fastest in the business, but not the fastest.
The Motorola Moto X40 will be available from 3,399 yuan, or around 457 dollars for the 8 GB version, while the more advanced will cost 4,299 yuan, 579 dollars. Its launch in Europe has not yet been announced, and it will probably be necessary to wait for the first quarter of the year for that.
