I have quite a few apps on my iPhone, but I realized that with Telegram it could replace many of these apps. Maybe not completely, but partially. In fact, I already do it and it’s thanks to its usefulness in different areas.
And unlike Apple’s iMessage, Telegram offers multitude of functions added beyond messaging. Even more than the famous WhatsApp, although some of these functions could work perfectly in the Meta application.
1- Music player
I subscribe to Apple Music and therefore have access to a large catalog of songs from practically all recognized artists. However, I also listen to songs that are not on the platformsthe majority of friends being musicians who do not have their songs in this type of performance.
So, I have a Telegram chat in which I am alone and in which I have sent all of these friends’ songs in mp3 format. Like this, I can listen to them whenever you want, even with the app in the background. And although the player itself is very basic, just skipping from one song to another is enough.
2- News feed
I often come across interesting news that I can’t get my head around at the moment. And despite the existence of applications dedicated to this and even the “Read later” option in Safari, the truth is that Storing them in Telegram makes me much more comfortable so as not to forget them and have them at hand on any device.
What I do is create a group with myself called “Reading” and send the links to the news. When I read them, I remove the links. If I don’t want to lose track of them once I read them, my way of marking them as favorites is to not delete the messages.
3- Timely reminders
These last months I rediscovered the message scheduling feature in individual Telegram chat. The one that allows us to send things to each other and whose name is “Saved Messages”. In fact, when you schedule a message in this chat, you notice that instead of “schedule message” it says “create reminder.”
And while I generally combine my tasks and reminders with Apple’s Reminders app, especially for its snooze settings and other options, Telegram is very useful to me for specific reminders like “call so-and-so” or “buy some potatoes”. With Telegram being my messaging app, I know I’ll see it as soon as it arrives, so there’s no fear of it being forgotten.
4- Access AI without having to use another application
While it is true that applications like Microsoft’s Copilot are present on my iPhone and that I use them a lot, the truth is that in the end I often end up resorting to Chatbot LuzIA. You may know it more from its presence on WhatsApp, although it is identical on Telegram.
LuzIA is not the only AI assistant available for Telegram, but it is the one I like the most. It has different uses, from solving math problems or giving me the exact formula I need for Excel to inspiring me to create new recipes with certain ingredients.
5- Download TikTok videos
Although it is true that there are shortcuts to download TikTok videos on iPhone, the truth is that I have become accustomed to doing it with Telegram, since it offers the possibility of download them without watermark. And this, in a few seconds.
Everything goes through him bot “ttsavebot” (that’s what it’s called and that’s how you should search on Telegram). After starting it and choosing our language, we just have to paste the link of the TikTok video in question and in a few seconds it will appear in the chat, and we can then save it to the iPhone gallery and/or share it with others. other people via Telegram itself or any other application.
6- Last but not least: it is multiplatform
Telegram is not the first, nor the only one, to have an application on mobile phones, computers and tablets. However, for uses like those I mention, it is the one that more versatility offers so you can use it at any time.
And, whether for work or for my personal use, I combine the iPhone with Android phones, in addition to having two Macs, and being able to synchronize the Telegram application on each of them. It makes my routine much easierthus avoiding having to switch from one device to another when I want to use the service.
Of course, to give the application a little slap in the face, I have to say that I really miss the Telegram app now non-existent on watchOS. It disappeared at the end of 2022 and, in contact with one of its developers, confirmed that it was a temporary withdrawal. Months later, it still hasn’t returned to the Apple Watch, so it’s of little use to me other than seeing and responding to notifications.
