There is almost a month left before an almost historic event takes place in the audiovisual industry and that’s it Natalie Portman will star in her first series and this will be the case on Apple TV+. With a successful career in television, the actress made a name for herself thanks to films like “Black Swan” and “V for Vendetta,” but she hasn’t been as profligate when it comes to traditional television or streaming.
American actress of Israeli origin “The Lady of the Lake” will premiere next month, an already announced mini-series on which Apple TV+ has just revealed new details. And the trailer is now available and serves as an appetizer for what’s to come in July.
Portman returns to television with a genre that made her triumph in cinema
“The Lady of the Lake” will be released on July 19 on Apple TV+, being new content exclusive to the platform and having nothing to do with the film of the same name released in 1947. In this Apple mini-series, we find an adaptation of the American novel by Laura Lippman and which also carried the name ‘The Lady of the Lake’.
In this thriller, Natalie Portman stars as Maddie Schwartz, a Jewish housewife who tries to hide her path by reinventing herself as a journalist. Her life collides directly with that of Cleo Sherwood, played by Moses Ingram, a mother embroiled in dark political plots in the city and struggling to keep her family together.
Of course, Portman and Ingram don’t come alone at all. Other actors and actresses appearing in the series include Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince. All directed by Alma Har’el, who was already director of the first season of “Big Little Lies”.
Unless there is a surprise and as has already happened with other successful mini-series on Apple TV+ like ‘Defending Jacob’, this series is a series composed of a only one season of seven episodes. On the aforementioned Friday, July 19, the first two episodes will air, while the rest will air individually each Friday until the seventh and final episode airs on August 23.
In this way, Portman returns to television with a series that promises a captivating thriller with multiple plot twists and mysteries in each episode. Something similar to what she found almost 15 years ago with the aforementioned “Black Swan” and which allowed her to win the Oscar for best actress. Portman’s involvement in this series is also maximum, since she also acts as a producer.
