The youngest are also at Apple!
It is well known that iPhone is one of the most popular devices in the world. However, at least in the United States, a very specific group accounts for its largest percentage of users. According to a survey, shared by investment firm Piper Sandler, 90% of teenagers have an iPhone.
The results of the survey, conducted biannually for several years, also show that the desire for devices with the bitten apple logo has doubled in the last ten years. In 2012, only 40% of teenagers in this country own an iPhone.
Teens already have their favorite smartphone
The survey that took place this year surveyed 14,500 teens with an average age of 15.8 in 47 statesrevealed that currently 87% of teens surveyed own an iPhonedepending on the results, and 88% of teens expect an iPhone to be their next phone. According to specialists, several factors combine for this fact:
We believe that high penetration and intent are important given the mature high-end smartphone market. Moreover, these trends are encouraging as the company continues to introduce new iPhones, which could provide a significant update to the product cycle. We believe these positive trends may also be a catalyst for further growth in services as the installed base of Apple hardware continues to grow.
Of course, while on the one hand the iPhone is the most popular smartphone in the United States, other Apple devices haven’t fared as well. The investigation revealed that the Apple Watch is less popularwith only 31% of teens owning an Apple wristband.
And it’s the Apple Watch SE is the most popular smartwatch among teenagers. 36.8% of teens said they own a smartwatch, so only 5.8% own a smartwatch that isn’t an Apple Watch.
Although the latter is not surprising. Apple launched the Apple Watch SE in 2020, to offer an almost identical experience to its big sisters at a more moderate pricebringing a traditionally expensive device closer to a segment that would be interested in acquiring the device.
Although the report does not reveal which is the most popular iPhone model among young people, Apple’s affordable options and the models’ estimated life cycles leave enough options to make this consumer group’s decision easier.
