We have been able to use foldable cell phones for several years, at least in countries like Europe, where Samsung and Motorola have put their models on sale. For the moment, these are expensive terminals, but more and more brands are joining this trend.
Today we have new information not from one, but from two of them, Google and Honor. Both have mobile projects that can be dubbed, although the approach is probably not the same since they are two very different companies.
Google’s Pixel Fold will use a Samsung screen
On the one hand, we have new data from Google folding, the supposed Pixel Fold. This terminal would use a 7.6 inch Powered by Samsung. That is, the panel used by the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 would be very similar, which we have already felt.
The technology would be UTG, Ultra Thin Glass, a kind of plastic with glass visors that makes the tactile sensation a little closer to that of current mobiles.
It’s unclear if Google will present this model with the Pixel 6, which is expected to arrive around October.
The foldable Honor’s screen will be larger
However, we have learned that Honor will use a screen created by BOE with a diagonal of 8 inch. The one inside and outside will use a smaller screen, with a diagonal of 6.5 inches.
This makes us think that the form factor will be the same as the Samsung Fold or the latest Huawei folding, that is, with two screens, and not with one as we saw in the Huawei Mate X d ‘origin.
This screen is said to be from UTG as well, although there could be some variation as it is not made by the same company as the Google Pixel Fold.
Honor is holding an event on August 12 where it will announce the new smartphones that will reach markets such as Spanish. The Honor 50 series and the Honor Magic 3 are expected, but maybe we’ll see some new data from this foldable as well.
