One day before its official presentation, we already know that the Google Pixel Watch has the potential to become the benchmark Wear OS watch, a device that brings a somewhat neglected platform back to life.

Samsung had the opportunity to become this reference, with the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5, but its vision of Wear OS is not “pure”, and depends a lot on its own ecosystem. With the Pixel Watch, we will finally have a watch with the latest version of Wear OS that integrates perfectly with our Android.
Phone calls on Wear OS
This also implies that the watch will be able to make phone calls, connecting with our mobile. It’s actually something current devices can already do, but the experience on the Pixel Watch should be different, and now we know why.
As reported in android fontGoogle has launched a new Phone app for Wear OS, although it did so without warning and so far it doesn’t seem to work on any device, not even Wear OS 3 models such as the aforementioned Galaxy Watch.
The reason for launching a separate phone app is the same as on Android: by separating basic system functions into separate apps, it’s easier to update them through the Play Store. Th is way, users can receive news sooner, without having to wait for their device to receive a system update.
And what’s the news? Judging by the first images of the Pixel Watch’s call interface, which was posted by Roland Quandt on Twitter, it looks like Google is going for minimalism.
