New malware is sneaking into the Android App Store, yet another reason to switch to iOS.
As reported by our colleagues from Andro4allbased on the study of cybersecurity experts from Threat Fabriche was found a new threat targeting Android users which managed to enter the Google Play Store via a Trojan horse.
this threat his name is Xenomorph and is aimed at users in Europe, Portugal, Italy and Belgium. Apparently, it is capable of stealing users’ banking access credentials. The Trojan would have the ability to obtain access data to cryptocurrency wallets or email accounts.
The application was available on Google Play with the name “Fast Cleaner”, posing as an application to clean your device that promised to speed up its operation. The most curious thing is that the application seemed to do what it promised, but it was infected with this dangerous malware.
It seems like Europe was the main target country of this threat since among the target applications of the malware are entities such as CaixaBank, BBVA, ING, Binance, Bitfinex, Coinbase, TransferWise, WiZink, Cajasur, Bankinter, Santander, Bankia, Ibercaja, Openbank or Pibank, among others. So, if you have downloaded this application, we recommend that you uninstall it and also change your credentials.
This in iOS does not happen
This is not the first serious case of malware detected on Google Play, which again turns out to be an app store much less secure than the iPhone App Store
Nail new reason to choose an iPhone over an Android device. And if you have a smartphone with the Google system, and you fear for your privacy, we recommend that you switch to the iPhone. You will never have problems like these.
