An Apple patent suggests an idea that could make everyone want to have a Mac with a Touch Bar!
Reinvention and updates are a fundamental part of the work Apple does with each of its devices. In honor of this, a recently revealed patent application by those in Cupertino may indicate that in the future the MacBook Pro would have a new feature, a 3D touchscreen sensitive to the pressure that we can exert with our fingers.
Apple is said to have investigated not only touch screens, on various devices, but also explored force or pressure sensitive screens, which could end up becoming a useful touch bar, i.e. in a repowered Touch Bar
forced touch
Although in the patents very little is explained about all possible variants or applications of the idea, it can be said that this patent called “Computer device housing containing a screen and force sensors”is totally linked to the exploration of touch screens and forced touch.
According to the illustrations accompanying said patent, Apple calls a MacBook monitor “the home screen.” and describes a possible “secondary display” near the keyboard, such as a horizontal line or bar just above the top row of keys.
According to an excerpt from the patent application, “The secondary display may function as an additional or auxiliary input mechanism and may, in some embodiments, extend functionality of the primary input mechanism.”
An example that translates all of the above can be the following: if you launch the Adobe Illustrator program on the main screen, where a button on the Touch Bar may appear previously (secondary display) which activates the Pen tool, now you can change the stroke of this brush depending on how hard you press this function. In this way, the secondary screen would have a preponderant role.
About the Touch Bar
It was in 2016 when Apple launches the first MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, a small touch toolbar located at the top of the keyboard. Why is it? In fact, for many things, with this bar, macOS users have the possibility of adding emojis, accessing shortcuts, controlling the sound volume, sending, answering or deleting an email, as well as countless options in a much more efficient and comfortable way. However, it did not have the users’ approval.
with the new patent this bar should further improve the functions it already performs and thus be able to get more deeply involved with each selected program when performing a job and make the most reluctant users give it a new opportunity. We’ll have to wait for more news on this and see if it could really be successful.
