Espoo, Finland – Nokia is closely monitoring the situation when a new coronavirus develops, with a view to taking a decision related to our help in the 2020 Mobile World Congress.
While the health and safety of our employees is a top priority for us, we also recognize that we have a responsibility to the industry and to our customers. As a result, we have taken the time needed to assess the situation quickly, approaching the GSMA and other groups, consulting with experts and specialist authorities and planning various risk management.
The conclusion of this process is that we believe it is a wise decision to cancel our participation in the Mobile World Congress. We want to extend our gratitude to GSM, the governments of China and Spain, and to the Generalitat of Catalonia, and to all those who have worked tirelessly to resolve the challenges posed by the new, fully-supported coronavirus.
Instead of joining customers and partners in Barcelona, Nokia plans to go directly to our partners for a series of "Nokia Live" events aimed at showcasing our demos and launches planned for the Mobile World Congress.
