The new Galaxy S24 family has arrived full of artificial intelligence functions, including: the ability to translate calls in real time, the Surround function to search and multiple features for camera and galleryincluding new editing capabilities.
Among the new features for videos, we find a very interesting function based on artificial intelligence, called “instant slow motion”. As its name suggests, this function allows Convert video recorded at normal speed to slow motion video with just one touch. So far, this feature is only available for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24, but Samsung has confirmed that it will be available on more devices.
Instant slow motion won’t be exclusive to the Galaxy S24
In the new Samsung Galaxy S24 family, when we watch a video that we have saved in the gallery, we can hold our finger on the screen so that this video becomes a slow motion video.
“Instant Slow-Mo” works very well. It allows you to examine a video scene in more detail, for example if you want to closely observe the way a football player kicks a ball, or the way a dog catches a toy mid-flight when you throw it. Also as You can convert part of video into slow motion video to share on any app messaging or social network.
Its operation, Samsung explains, is based on creating additional frames between the original frames of a traditional speed video, so that when creating the slow motion version the movement of the image is much smoother and natural.
Instant Slow Motion requires a powerful GPU and NPU to work
To achieve this, Samsung claims that this function requires a GPU and an NPU with a lot of power, so until now it was not known if it was an exclusive function of the new Galaxy S24, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors 8 Gen 3 and Exynos. 2400. Fortunately, it won’t be like that.
These are the Samsung Galaxy which will receive the slow motion function of the Galaxy S24
A moderator of Samsung’s official website in Korea has confirmed which Samsung Galaxy devices will receive this feature via an update. The list includes mobile phones, foldable mobile phones and tablets.
In particular, all these elements are models that will hit the market in 2023 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, so we can assume that this SoC has enough power in terms of GPU and NPU to use instant slow motion. However, in the future, Samsung might announce this feature for more devices.
The feature could come to these devices with the update to One UI 6.1, when it becomes available. In the case of the Galaxy S23, Samsung is expected to update them next March. Other models will receive the new version of One UI in the first half of this year.
